Far too early to tell for me. Made the same mistakes over and over last season and seemed determined to make the game as complex as possible at times.

However we also looked good on the odd occasion and we did, in general, improve player for player against last season, even if we didn't really as a team.

Next season is where we'll begin to see what McCann's all about.

Can't argue with that but nothing stays the same, its still early in the regime to call. Back to pur personal half full V half empty debate.

McPake must be a top lad off the park but I'm proud of the way DFC has looked after him.

I remember some guys feeling betrayed by us in the past. Now we're a club that sticks by players during tough times, which is nice.

Totally agree Cobra, I think we've shafted good servants far too often in the recent past. Whatever happened to testimonials as well, I'm sure Sir Barry & Big Rab were worthy of one.

I remember quite a few boys on here wanted him binned and were repeatedly saying that he was a waste of money.

Not sure Rab was here long enough, tbh.

When he got a three year contract there was a lot of criticism, even though none of us knew anything about the contract other than it was a three year contract. :lol2:

2 spells totalling 8yrs and over 250 apps, plus a healthy transfer fee. Maybe not worthy of a testimonial but a more than decent career here none the less.

Maybe the club could have been a bit more open about it? The role and responsibilities?

Where do you draw the line though, should we know win bonus's etc on contracts ? The guy got a contract, there was a collective fear that a crocked older player was given a three year contract which I get but we don't have the right to know the conditions of every contract at the club, we need to trust that the people running things are  doing the best as they see it. We've had plenty retrospective bawling about Vincent (and Williams) contracts, again without knowing anything other than they were for 3 years. Some work out, some don't, that's the nature of the game and you'd hope that as things progress we'll (well FPS and NM) get better at getting it more right than wrong.

Do we list other employees responsibilities though?. The 3yr deal made McPake a target when it shouldn't have. There's no need for us to know the ins and outs of the deal. We can all see that McPake coaches the youths, the first team, our Texan namesakes and assists the manager as and when required. What more info do we need?.
