Blueboy 350 #1 Posted 7 February Just watched highlights. Boy looks a proper striker. Last one was Hemmings. How do they compare? Yes I know it's early days. Edited 7 February by Blueboy 3 Top
DarkBlueKnight 1,423 #2 Posted 7 February No I’m in love , never too early . Might even take down the Greg Stewart posters from the bedroom wall 1 2 Top
Dondeh 993 #3 Posted 7 February Interesting to hear him talking about his link up with Curran. He said he usually does all the running about but Curran is taking that load off him and giving him plenty of advice. I reckon half his energy is nervous energy and he can only get better with more experience . Top
Wattie Rojas 2,082 #4 Posted 7 February I like how he shoots on sight. Good pace and power too. 4 Top
Cannigia 72 #5 Posted 7 February completely forgot we actually signed this boy and it isn’t on loan, only got reminded today and it made me a bit happier after last night. a lot of raw talent there, pace and an eye for goal. I look forward to him leaving for 50k in a year 6 1 Top
Parcbara 558 #6 Posted 7 February Hemmings was a penalty box striker, Nelson is dangerous from outside the box as well. 1 Top
8utters 806 #7 Posted 7 February Hemmings took a while to settle with us, Nelson has hit the ground running. He looks tremendous so far. A defenders nightmare. If he continues to get better, which he surely will, his stay with us will, unfortunately, be fleeting. How JM managed to land him is incredible. A brilliant signing. A player who makes you want to go and watch us!! 1 Top

WeighorstsWang 3,077 #9 Posted 7 February I wasn't there last night but I'd like to ask that folk try and calm down a bit regarding Nelson. Yes, he's hit the ground running and he should be praised but heaping pressure on him and equating him to Kane Hemmings will do nobody any favours right now. 1 Top
FanDee 119 #10 Posted 7 February He was great last night, but as he says himself curran does a lot of the donkey work for him. Interesting to see how he gets on if Curran is out for some reason. Top

I understand what you are saying and it would be unfair to burden the lad with shoes to fill, but I will give him his due and say that he is a 'real' striker compared to what we have had since Hemmings left the club. The lad took his chances even though it looked like he fluffed his chances and it is good to see a striker actually score goals from open play rather than penalties. I also like the way he never gave the defenders a minutes peace and came back to get the ball when we were defending. The boy looks a real find, and as other have said, we will not keep long if he keeps playing the way he did last night (Even though one swallow a summer does not make). Blue4evr 456 #12 Posted 7 February I don't know if he has a stamina problem or a bit of an injury, but his playing time is a bit erratic. Although playing well he was removed after an hour against Hearts and Motherwell, got last 15 at QoS and taken off quite early last night. Amazingly he didn't play at all at Hamilton. He's been playing and scoring for Darlington on loan so shouldn't be fatigue. Top

He came on against QOS, on astro, at 0-3 down anyway. Why would JM risk him when the game was gone if he struggled on that surface. There's also photos of him training at Gussie too. (maybe taken by your good self). I think this is nothing more than an internet rumour. 1 Top

In his short post match interview & his further newspaper comments Wattie, he didnae come over as the "Cocky Kind" But quite rightly, he disnae appear to lack self belief in what he is capable of. It's like a breath of fresh air ... "I like how he shoots on sight. Good pace and power too" (You've got that in a oner freend) His goals & style of play should be an encouragement to those players around him .... And as much as he credits the support of others, they also should be thanking him, for grasping the opportunities which they're part of making. He's a great example for rest of team. BCram 1,271 #19 Posted 8 February Curran is the glue that makes this partnership work. Need to keep the team ethic going. That's the only thing that will get us out of the situation we are in. Admiral is an important part but he is a part of the team and talk of not being able to keep him because he is so great is premature, IMO. 2 Top

Two points. One - Astroturf is bloody awful. Two - Nelson looks like a potential star, Curran is prefect foil for him but it would not surprise me one bit if he is good up top on his own. Powerful centre forward, with great work rate and ability. Early days but he looks promising and I can understand why folk are liking him to Hemmings. 1 Top

Hard, dry pitches can be watered and softened up. Astro is relentless and unforgiving on your joints. Plus, it's bloody awful having to pick the pellets out your nose/hair/ears .. everywhere really! 2 Top

Where it is risky is where players have to turn quickly or slide into tackles, the rubber beads are very grippy. I broke my ankle badly sliding in for a tackle on a 3g pitch in Gibraltar. My studs gripped on the rubber beads and momentum carried my leg forward 90deg sideways until my ankle gave way making a horrendous noise. Top
