Guest Posted 25 August 2015 Report Share Posted 25 August 2015 So you'd rather our club and the othervscottish clubs miss out on much needed cash. I hope they get beat yes. I think you need to look at the wider implications for Scottish football of them getting through.

You mean improving the coefficient and making it easier for other Scottish clubs to quality for Europe? If Celtic failed as often as people want them to, we'd end up with just one European spot in the earliest qualifying rounds. Which would go to Celtic. Even the Azerbaijan Premier League, which only has 10 teams, has 3 European spots. Edited 25 August 2015 by Mr Gandosaur
markthedee Posted 25 August 2015 Report Share Posted 25 August 2015 No country in Europe has only one European spot. OK, two European spots. One of which will always be Celtic, the other for whoever wins the Cup or finishes 2nd. The point is that wanting Celtic to fail severely harms other teams with European ambitions. nemsadzDEE Posted 25 August 2015 Report Share Posted 25 August 2015 145k could pay for a winger and a target man, MON THE HOOPS!
islaydarkblue Posted 25 August 2015 Report Share Posted 25 August 2015 145k could pay for a winger and a target man, MON THE HOOPS! Scot Gardiner previously stated that the money was not paid out until the end of this season.
markthedee Posted 25 August 2015 Report Share Posted 25 August 2015 (edited) Every country has a minimum of 3. No they don't. You think getting more teams in Europe to be pumped at the first attempt will improve Scottish football? It's better than having the fewest possible teams in Europe. It also makes the league more competitive. Last season, the top 6 would have been over as soon as Celtic were knocked out of the Cup. The only countries that don't have a minimum of 3 are Liechtenstein who don't have their own national league, and Gibraltar. There is no way in hell our league will ever fall below 3 European spots when nations like the Faroe Islands, Luxembourg and Andorra have a minimum of 3 spots. We will fall below 3 European spots if people get what they want and see Celtic out of Europe at the earliest opportunity. I'm simply reducing the argument to its logical conclusion. The points for winning and drawing are the same in the Europa and Champions league - halved for qualification rounds. Celtic would miss out on some bonus points for champions league qualification, but will win more games in their Europa group.(If they lose tonight they go straight into the Europa league group stages) Edited 25 August 2015 by JDee
