Anyone willing to take it off my hands? Two requirements 1. you live locally but can't afford to attend games for whatever reason and 2. you don't boo the team before the final whistle. I work most weekends and that's just the way it is, so all I can do is make a token gesture to the club.

Hemmings hold up play is exceptional but hes holding the ball up for no support to arrive. Forwards arent our problem, the problem is creating the opportunities for them. Johnsons finishing is very good and Nelson's energy is outstanding but it's all for nothing with no support for the midfield

I like Cammy. I get the feeling he'd rather spend a night in Rose West's cell than wear tangerine.

On paper our front three look like the best forward line in the championship and perhaps even better than teams at the bottom of the premiership.... The biggest problem which everyone already knows about is the lack of chances we are creating. There is just no drive or support from the midfield. When you look at our stats, when was the last time we had something like 18/20 attempts on goal? It's not even as though our forwards as missing great opportunities or open goals. There is just nothing being created. No wonder the likes of Hemmings is looking fed up, I'd be too if I came back expecting to...

We're in Scotland's second division and we have Kane Hemmings, Danny Johnson and Andrew Nelson. Is that not a pretty f**cking good situation? Would we rather have Mark Stewart and John Baird and Colin Nish? I don't think so. Our team has a lot of room for improvement but I have to say our frontline is quality.

I've got to say as calamitous as some of his defending was I'd % rather him as 3rd pick centre half than meekings. Tbh I struggle to think of a handful of good performances from him since he signed. He's slow, can't turn, can't pass and isnt great in the air against big strikers. Above all he ball watches constantly. I'd ban him from the weights and get him to lose some muscle so he can get around the pitch better. I'd also get him practising his forward pass. Every single time he gets it he looks sideways instead of forward, slowing down the play unnecessarily. Then I'd get Jimmy...

Not sure that we can't find a way to bring our strikers into play. Think it's taking time to do this , and it doesn't help having to work things out as we play vital games. We change shape move players around and ask them to do different tasks. Not easy, but I'm hopeful that we will get it sorted in time to make up for any lost ground while we work things out.

Straight red but they're really taking the biscuit if they suspend him in the league, our squads wafer thin as it is.

Are we being too harsh because of the derby scoreline? We have a brand new team and gaffer so it was always going to take a bit of time to gel and learn our best team. Every new signing has played well individually in spells and we've had spells where we've played well as a team. I think we've played too many defensive midfielders at times and this hasn't helped the connect to the forwards. A lack of pace and forward momentum in midfield hasn't helped either. Too many times we play the easy sideways pass instead of the forward one. Finn coming back should help with this but we...

Agree with most of this but Archie's mid eighties team were better by a long way than Duffy's mid nineties one.

Sat in the Main Stand on Saturday which was a new perspective and felt like I could see parts of the game better and hear the players. There were so many times where Meekings had the ball in defence and Hemmings was screaming his head off and charging forward only for him to hesitate and the window being gone, often then ending up under pressure and just hoofing it poorly when Hemmings wasn't in a good position. A similar story with Byrne and Ness in the middle who always wanted to contain, I don't dislike either and I think Byrne in particular could be a good defensive midfield player but...

I refuse to accept that diagnosis until I've had a full, frank, open discussion with ... "My Voices" "No nurse, it's not the time to take my medication & can you not see I am chairing a meeting here?"

As other have echoed a great gesture from one of the good guys. Ps make sure you get them to sign some form of waiver that they can’t sue you for the misery you are about to inflict on some poor b*****d .

I swear Cammy is singing “I love you Dundee I do” when he goes on one of his Forest Gump runs down the right.

Seemed way OTT to me. A forum is just a load of opinions and it would die if they were all the same. Challenge or ignore if you don’t agree with fellow posters - no need to take the cream puff with an official announcement.

A bit harsh, just because a guy gets so exasperated that he feels like leaving (and letting people know) isn't that different from other people spitting their dummy out over player X being the Antichrist. It doesn't mean the default is attention seeking.

I think if Dees gave a little thought to things they'd realise this website is ridiculously good at encouraging positive debate. Nasty trolls simply don't survive on here. I don't know what it's like for supporters of other teams but I suspect we're quite lucky to have this message board.

Noticed Killie have signed another keeper leaving Jamie MacDonald surplus to requirements. What would be the conditons we would need to meet to sign someone on an 'Emergency Loan' Ferrie is only suspended and we do have the youngster, however if we met any sort of conditions to bring in a keeper I'd def take him (and as No 1)

Right, I’m out of here. It’s a tough thing being a Dee these days....and has been for a few seasons . But, my God, it’s much harder when I waste my time with the torrent of drivel that passes as “passionate debate” on here. Whether it’s the anti-Cammy Kerr squad (sure, he’s no world beater but we’re a championship club and there are plenty premier teams would be happy to have him) or any number of misguided, repetitive ranters, I’ve had my fill. Todd and McDaid seem to be the main “Elgin scapegoats” from what I’ve seen from some. I think they’re decent...McDaid has taken a man on and beaten...

Its unusual, maybe the guy had a bad day all round and seeing stuff on here tipped him over the edge. Its telling that so many are unwilling to give the benefit of the doubt to a poster who has hardly been 'look at me' and go straight for the attention seeking shout. I can see where he's coming from.

We all appreciate it when someone gives us a like/gold star or a response that backs up our view. Personally I've got more respect for GoatLord taking the time to say why he's off than I do for the numerous "I said he was sh**e when he signed" how right am I posts we see. Maybe GoatLords implied 'miserable b*****ds' has got to some egos.

Nah you were just p1sh cobra Lat time i played in a proper game , was on trial - i got brought down in box (i did dive/rolled about all the dramatics ) took the ball of own player - bear in mind , first time playing with this team - took the penalty - GREAT SAVE from there keeper ! Afterwords told they had enough cover in my position

Personally think we're being a wee bit harsh on the OP. Everyone who posts does so in order to seek attention from other posters, if we didn't then what would be the point in posting?. Ultimately we all want other posters to give attention to our posts.

Elgin was an ideal opportunity to try the above, with nelson and johnson playing like an old no8,no10 roles, byrne sitting, ness ,todd supporting, could it have been worse?

They should be on the touchline looking along the line pushing high to the last defender when the full back makes a run or has the ball.A midfielder should be available inside to play a FIRST time ball inside the back, where Todd,Mcdaid are primed to steam on to the thru ball ,turn the defence and get a decent cross in.Do this multiple times, over and over, practised in training, and the rocket may leave the launch pad......... Varieties of the same basic play may occur as confidence in your teammates increases, this used against stuffy defensive systems may work.WTF do I know about modern football...................

Yes Cammy does that but the problem really is that we don't have anyone WIDE to pass to . Our "wingers " stand 10-15 yards in the pitch and are facing their own goal when they get a pass so instead of being on the half turn when they receive the ball to get their first touch forward they pass it back the way. So to be fair Cammy and Marshall on the other side son't have many options, hence the reason they stop and then pass it back. Frustrating I agree but there is a reason. But Attilio I do share the sigh !

Agreed. We still see folk trying to push the "we're one of the biggest clubs in Scotland" narrative. We might have been, at one point. Since those days we're probably up there with most relegations, getting there with the trophy drought and certainly peak administration tables. We get 5,000 through the gates? Who gives a sh*t.
  37. 1 point
I can see your point, and occasionally feel the same, recalling that Cammy at his POTY-season-best, used to keep going, till he was brought down....then we were 75 yards up the pitch, and had Stewart on the dead balls. We 'know' he was subsequently coached to stop doing that & stay in his 'compartment' of the pitch, sadly. However, we've now seen that he has another option when he gets to that decision-making point....to cut inside, and wallop the ball into the net....and some 'wallop' it was, about as good as Stewart's far post curlers. And, it was off his 'weak' foot! I trust he'll be encouraged to try that...

I think there is money left for the right player but definitely can't afford to sign players just to boost numbers. We need a creative player who can make an immediate impact and solve out biggest problem. I think if JMP thought King could solve our creative problems he would have already signed. If it is a cash issue though maybe we had to pay Davies and Curran a lot more than we would have liked.

Brilliant, not that he was a world beater or that but I've got the absolute fear for us up until january now. We have an embarrassingly small squad.
  40. 1 point
B maybe I didn't phrase my self properly, I agree with all you say, but what I was trying to say was as I know nothing about Alloa's form if we play our best and they play their best it should be a win for us.

The point is Cobra that not everyone does, which is why so many people are rightly highlighting what a fantastic gesture it is. More power to you mate!

Must have missed the bit where anybody said it was ALL the fans fault. A bit of growing up maybe wouldn't do any harm and we can have big boy discussions instead of making sh*t up and lashing out. Nah, as you were peeps, just have a good old froth at folk who see things differently.

My only concern freend is when the suffering becomes, what appears to be endless, you then reach the stage where it becomes part of your life. And before you know where you are, you enthusiatically look forwad to the pain. Ye've just got to watch myself. Chomp & Admin John on a Night Out ... The Full Leather Suits may be an effort to look Stylish & be noticed. But thon Whips are used for some Serious Business at close of play.

Jings Aberdee, quoting me as an example I'd suggest is maybe NO the way to go. I am mair likely to be the cause o GL's considered departure ... rather than the cure. But BIG Thanks anyway freend ... As a point of interest the "Happy Clappy Club" is now open to new members (even old members, who allowed their feelings of anger to get the better of them. And attacked me when I tried to lock them in) will also be reconsidered, once my hospital recovery is complete (The voices carried the vote)

The days of Dundee breaking the transfer record by signing Billy Steel are long gone so we really need a positive support. We are one of the seven best supported clubs in Scotland but if our players are demoralised by playing at Dens we lose our advantage over the likes of Queen of the South. Every Dee who turns up at Dens deserves praise but it's those Dees who offer their vocal support regardless of circumstances who are the real heroes. If you boo the team before the final whistle you will, over the course of the season, cost us points.

There is nothing worse than when someone demands attention for leaving. Either leave or make an attempt to make it better. Taking a running jump to leave. How old are you bud.

    • If there was one thing you would change about the club which you believe would make a difference, what would it be?

Me, I would change the following: Tannoy's/Speakers in the stadium, those things make my ears bleed every time they announce that the opposition have scored a goal!

    • Match Aftermath: St Johnstone 1 - 0 Dundee (25th Aug 2018)
The Dark Blues lose their fourth game in a row away to St Johnstone, leaving the Dark Blues with no points in three league matches.

Again it was a player who could have been a Dark Blue who scores. Tony Watt who had trained with the club joined St Johnstone earlier this month scored the only goal just after the break.

Dundee again had plenty of chances but failed to monopolise on the them.

    • Just for a bit of fun I thought we could have a mini DFC fantasy game.

Pick 11 Dundee players before our league season kicks off at 3pm on Saturday. Formation can be 4-4-2. 4-3-3 or 3-5-2. Five points for an appearance and 10 points for a goal. Captain scores double.

Free to enter a team. Prize to be decided.

      This is my team...

      Parish

      Ralph
      Caulker
      O'Dea
      Kerr

      McGowan
      Madianga
      Elton (captain)

      Wighton
      Mendy
      Moussa

Top scorer tie-breaker: Mendy with 15 goals

    • Once in the hot seat at Dens, ‘Cowboy’ made ‘Wee Georgie’ his number one signing target, spending a full afternoon convincing the player that his future still lay in Dundee and resulting in the frontman re-signing until the end of the season. Shaw however, clearly had an axe to grind as The Courier headline revealed ‘Shaw Pays Big Tribute To McCormack’. With the ‘new’ signing explaining further… “If I’d been given the same offer by Jim Duffy back at the start of the season I wouldn’t have been looking for a move in the first place.” Going on to have another swipe at his ex-boss by adding “…And from where I am standing it seems there’s one rule for managers and one for players, because while I was unable to join another Scottish team because no-one could agree a fee with Dundee, Jim Duffy was able to take himself off to Hibs no problem.”

    • The sale of Jim Hamilton to Hearts for £200,000 highlighted the two other major issues Dundee faced at the time. Namely a budget that barely seemed able to cover the heating bill, never mind a promotion push and the complete disinterest of the club’s latest white knight turned villain, Canadian ‘business man’ and club owner Ron Dixon.
