  2. I have absolutely no problem with the DABs losing in any game, OF or not. The DABs to me are worse than the OF. (ie. I hate the DABs more than OF). Hegarty cheat cheat cheat. Hegarty cheat cheat cheat.

  3. Someone gave me a lend of around 50 Sporting Posts from the 60s to the 80s for the website so they will be going up soon 👍🏻

  4. I used to go get this for my Grandad every Saturday when I was younger (much younger) 😂 Sadly, there is nothing like this today, and would enjoy reading about our games (home and away). Anyone else miss this fine paper on a Sat night?

  5. Mind even a bairn (pre-school & in primary) my dad, although a constant reader of books, seemed to be quite selective on what newspapers were bought and brought into the house. It was maybe a reflection of the times and although he had not too bad a job, he maybe felt even then, most papers were full of junk (God knows what he thought of today's papers) I don't remember any DCT's papers coming into our house on a regular basis. Although That did not deter my own interest in books & newspapers ... My "Grannie" who I seemed to spend half my life with, lived in one of the old tenem

  6. When I was a paperboy I used to deliver the Maidens' papers, had to go into the bar to hand it over, always left the pub minus a bunch of Sporting Posts, guys in the bar always gave me a quid each for them, then I'd nip to the shop along the road and replace what I'd sold so I could finish my round. Tidy wee profit for a 13yr old 😂

  7. I hate non weedgie OF fans that buy into the OF politics and talk all weedgie......by the way.....but....they come across as desperate to fit into some sort of club and will sell their souls to do so....you know the ones that have never been to a game but shout about "The Ra" and claim it's their culture I hate them far more than SOME United fans.

  8. Used to have to queue to get one. The van would pull up outside the newsagent across from Doc's and throw them onto the pavement. Whoever grabbed them and took them in would get theirs first, then the paper laddies would get theirs for delivery followed by the people in the queue. Very rare for them not to run out within ten minutes of hitting the pavement.

  10. My Grandad would come around to our house for his tea every Saturday (Mince and Tatties, as that was his favourite). after tea around about 6-7pm, he would get me to run up to the local shop to get the sporting post. He would give me 50p for my trouble and I would read about the match (whether I had been at the game or not). Ahh stories like this:

  13. The DABS........... I love it every time they lose. I love it when their deluded fan base comes crashing down to earth. I loved it when SIR Craig became Levein. I loved it when SIR Stephen Thomson ripped the absolute pish and went from custodain to utter C**t. I loved it when SIR Jackie went from manager to agent and creamed off a cut of transfer fees. I am loving it that Oddball Ogren has been sold a pup from Fa

  14. I always like Duffy, wore his heart on his sleeve and considering the hardship that the club had during the first Admin, he got a hard time from the fans when he was working under terrible conditions. The fact that he paid some of the players wages out of his own pocket, spoke millions for me to the type of person he was. He is the only manager in recent times who got us to a semi and a final. Would I take him back, no because I believe we have to move on from previous managers, but then again, if you were to twist my arm....... 🤔

  15. The likes of Ivan are the posters who make a good board imo Find myself reading far more than posting now also. Once the games start I think that may change. If I’m honest I found myself getting wound up at times by certain things so decided to take a step back.

  16. When they play either of the Old Firm it is a bit awkward because it is a fraction more difficult to unequivocally want them to lose. I cannae stand the ugly sisters, hating everything about them, the way they go about things and all that religious nonsense. So it takes some organisation to make me want them to win a game; step up the DABs into that role. The ideal outcome yesterday would have been another few goals for Sevco just to rub it in then a couple of Sevco players found to have breached Covid regulations and then the 3 points deducted. Lets hope the DABs are heading for rock bottom b

  17. I was one in the seventies. At that time loads of guys came up to pick up bags of teles from The grand old High School of Kirkton. Then hopefully get a freezer on the 1B and up into God's country to deliver them. edit to add. On the bus for nothing, not an Indesit.

  19. Was one of the highlights of my Saturday night. When the final whistle blew at Dens I'd race down the hill to meet my grandparents who'd have a bag of chips waiting. I'd then get the train to Perth and by the time I got there the bus station they would have the Sporting Post. I'd then have a couple of hours to check out scores on the way to Inverness (and if I was lucky there would be something interesting in the paper about the Dee).

  28. Looks like any appeals will be expedited as well and bypassing Appeal Court straight to Supreme Court then end of. Below is latest from FCA website: The judgment will be handed down at 10:30am on Tuesday 15 September 2020. This page will be updated shortly after that. After judgment, a party may appeal the court’s decision, subject to procedural rules for seeking permission to appeal and making an appeal. If this happens, the parties to the test case have agreed as part of the Framework Agreement that they will seek to have any appeal heard on an expedited basis. This i

  37. Luckily I captained Salah which made up for 2 players getting no minutes and an all round shocker from my defence and goalie (a grand total of 4 points with only Vinagre of Wolves still to play) Great to be part of such a big league, thanks to @Cobra for setting up 👍🏼

  38. I've made my position clear in the past that imo the Sporting Post was the best in Scotland, anyway. The Glasgow, Edinburgh and other Saturday evening sports papers were odd pink or green efforts on dodgy quality paper and the ink always came off badly on your hands (probably never any use as bog paper in those days). The main difference was the speed that the early edition had the scores in the 'stop press' and info from the games and how quickly the final edition was out with full match reports not just of the local teams games but for all of Scottish football.

  42. Sorry, I draw the line at that ... Regardless of what Admin John thinks of my sexual driven orientation, it appears I do have my limitations. It's more than a face mask I'd need, if these circumstances were ever to befall me. Even if I was in a state of rest (deid) I would insist on full head to toe metal armour covering...As an extra precaution, someone should also remove my eyes. Hope I have not come over, bit too strong here. Were it the Boys in Dark Blue, well who knows? But for sake o' decency, Long-Johns stay on

  43. Only 1 needed to hit 20. I take this quite seriously so might win. If Saka Tatties does finish top the prize will go to the second place team. I'll give a voucher for the full cost of the kit to spend in the shop in case the full DFC kit isn't something the winner would wear.

  44. I really don't get our fans at times. We still have over 6wks til the start of the season, players only just returned to training in the past week and we're not exactly flush, yet here we are, already mumping and moaning about a player of Charlie Adam's ability not agreeing terms within the first couple of days of talks. Make no mistake, this would be a huge signing for a club in the 2nd tier of Scottish football, yet some of us are ready to say no to it because he didn't sign straight away. It's ridiculous and unreasonable to expect someone to agree to what is likely to be their final mo

  45. There can't be many people with enough money not to worry at all about it. He deserves to be paid a wage which reflects his pedigree as much as his need. The fact that he's even willing to come to us when I'm sure he could get significantly more elsewhere says something for him IMO.

    • Eh Mind O' Duffy (Part 1)
The sale of Jim Hamilton to Hearts for £200,000 highlighted the two other major issues Dundee faced at the time. Namely a budget that barely seemed able to cover the heating bill, never mind a promotion push and the complete disinterest of the club’s latest white knight turned villain, Canadian ‘business man’ and club owner Ron Dixon.

    • Ex Dee Interview: James McAlister
James McAlister was at Dens for three seasons and was considered a fan favourite.

The midfielder was part of the championship winning side in 2014 and it was his goals which helped the Dee on the road to the title. James was also involved in the 'Bitegate' storm when Nadir Ciftci bit McAlister's leg during a Dundee Derby.

I think it could be October before we can get to Dens again. Just a guess.

    • With it looking likely they'll be joining us I wonder if they have reductions in player contracts in the event of relegation.

You'd have thought so but given the mess Budge and levein have made and the panicked statements from Budge there must be a doubt there.

Do they offer the high earners a free transfer? Will the players accept one?

They've still got about 25 players contracted for next season and many of these will be on big contracts. Boyce, Washington, Naismith, Berra, walker etc.

A lot of ifs and buts but if they can keep most of their squad and keep them fit then they'll be very hard to beat. Boyce and Naismith are top players in particular.

    • End? of Season Report Card 2019/20
A season yet to be finished or a season that never was? Promotion through reconstruction? Play-off bound? Or denied a crack at the top flight through our own fault or circumstances? Who knows? Either way now seems as good a time as ever to have a wee look back over what has been a (part) season that’s often promised much without ever really delivering.
