I am going to stick my neck out and also put on my tin hat with this, but John Nelms has come in for a lot of stick recently, and I feel IMO that most of this has been down to a lack of connection and communication with the fans, but hey can you fault the way he and FPS have handled the Manager change, I am really happy that he has done the full process very, very well, and (also in my opinion) he has done exactly the right thing in giving the gig to an inspirational man like Jazza, who knows the club and the fans so well,...

I’ve been trying to get my head round John Nelms’ programme notes from Saturday. I’ve posted a few comments here, on twitter and on facebook where I’ve been extremely critical. I’ve even questioned his sanity. But I don’t dislike John Nelms or what he and Tim Keyes have done for Dundee FC since they became involved with our club. I think we have a huge amount to be grateful to them for, although I think many of the decisions made since they arrived have been, and continue to be, flawed. However, I think there’s always going to be a fundamental disconnect that exists between incomers and those who have been...

About a month ago I got quite down about Dundee's terrible form, possibly partly as a result of a heavy session and certainly because of yet another defeat. My missus asked me why I go if it gets to me that much. My answer was I would have stopped years ago if I didn't care. Happily I'm feeling much more circumspect about our team now and am actually looking forward to next season in the championship. It's been a horrific season on the park and I'll be glad when it's finished however I'm a Dundee fanatic and have been since I was 5 years old (although I didn't go until...

https://provieroadpod.com/2018/09/24/editorial-mccann-must-go/ Football, the old cliché goes, is a results business. Long gone are the days where a struggling manager is given months, never mind years, to turn around a team and remake it in his own image. While some will mourn the loss of the conditions which allowed Alex Ferguson to become a Manchester United legend, others will rightly recognise that the game has changed immeasurably since the 1990s, when a certain diminutive winger scored a cheeky lob-cum-cross to keep Dundee Football Club afloat. The Bosman ruling has shifted the balance of power within the dressing room towards the squad; the advent of social media has made it more difficult...

Since coming into the club in 2013 the American has now had to appoint, quite staggeringly, three managers, what with John Brown capitulating with the promotion finishing line in sight, Paul Hartley admitting he had run out of ideas as his team stared relegation in the face and now, the unbelievably convoluted removal of Neil McCann. Arriving after Hartley blurted out that he’d tried everything he knew as he failed to turn round the fortunes of his ailing squad, the tenure of Neil McCann went from the third coming of the Messiah, to that of a manager constantly being ridiculed by former players. The cowardly smirking of Celtic reserve goalkeeper...

Hi guys, its been a while while since I’ve offered you our warm wishes from CPFC in south London. It’s great to see our two clubs working so well together again. ryan Iness has had a chequered career so far mainly due to off the pitch issues. However, I saw him play at Swansea on Tuesday night and think given a run of games, should serve you well this season. dont forget, because of all of our mutual love of Mr Speroni, Dundee have 100’s of cockney Palace fans, and we all wish you guys a great season. ( the first Scottish result I look for)

I am really not getting the negativity about Goodwin. I've seen folk saying on here and in general it's uninspired, poor appointment, lack of experience etc. What are they expecting? Keep hearing and seeing Strachan's name pop up (since his Scotland sacking), the foreign route, coming from a certain level. Strachan has repeatedly stated he has no interest in getting back into management, and he would probably command at least 500k per year for a full time position in any case never mind managing a Scottish Championship club. I know its been touted he could come in a as technical director (absolutely great if it happens btw) or whatever but...

Before I start I just want to get this out the way ; one performance doesn’t make you a great player, I hate to put any unnecessary pressure on players and I’m not claiming he is the next big thing. BUT Finlay Robertson take a bow son. That has to be the best starting debut (I know he’s played before) at Dens I’ve seen for a lad of that age. To stay on the park for the full 90 whilst Byrne was taken off speaks volumes about his display. Confidence, composure, ability, desire, awareness and range of passing he showed it all yesterday. And without getting too far ahead of...

I was trying to refrain from commenting on this topic as it can create more questions that can't always be answered due to the fact some information is between the club and the customer. However I would like to point out no-one was evicted (they don't live in the Directors' Box), they were asked to moderate their language and if they could not do this then we would appreciate it if they could leave. The language used by the person in question was in breach of not only our hospitality rules but also our ground regulations, both of these can be found at the following links: https://dundeefc.co.uk/club/policies-practices/ground-regulations/ https://dundeefc.co.uk/club/policies-practices/hospitality-regulations/ As stated...

Only Dundee FC could reemploy someone who tried to have the club closed down Fans who could ill afford it put in hundreds/thousands to try to save the club only for this a***hole to try to scupper these attempts. I remember working my day off for months so I could afford to do my bit. The wee prick shouldn’t be allowed through the door never mind be an employee again. Totally disgusting decision.

This kind of attitude is why fans owned will never work for us, ever. Too many people, with a 'blazer/childish' attitude, 'your not part of the group so I'm not telling you'. When will people realise, we are ALL Dundee fans, whether you live in Dundee, London, New York, Sydney, Wick, wherever! We are all Dundee fans, no one is more important or less important. If you are part of DSA or DFCSS, it doesn't matter one little bit. We have all equally saved our club twice, we have all put money into the club through various means, writing cheques to keep us going, going to home matches (ST or...

Even during a season that's struggled for many highs, I find some of the opinions humbly accepting or even encouraging the logic behind an amalgamation to be the most depressing thing DFC related I've encountered all year. I respect those opinions and in ways understand the logic behind them, but I honestly see anyone wanting to or willing to accept anything other than Dundee Football Club, on the grounds that the nameless, faceless thing we'd be left with would have the off chance of pushing for top six every season, to be akin to the glory hunters following the ugly sisters. Would I cash in the emotion, passion, history, good...

Honestly you two are absolute doom and gloom merchants. Have never actually seen either of you say anything positive about the club. We know absolutely nothing about the Goodwin situation other than pure press speculation. And straight away the “Legion of Gloom” are on it with nonsense like our contract offer was crap and we are about to appoint a novice as manager despite 100 applications. In recent seasons the press haven’t had a clue about our dealings and that could easily be the case here. And hey see if it’s not then fair enough, if for whatever reason Jim Goodwin doesn’t wish to take the job we wish him...

I was bloody furious when the board went up and saw the 6 minutes added time, as the first thing that came to mind was that Madden thought Celtic needed more time to score. I don't blame Woods for the goal, because if the normal stoppage time had been given He and the other players wouldn't have been on the park for that to happen. You could see how hurt Woods was after they scored and I thought the whole team played well together as a unit, yes it wasn't a brilliant game but I feel that the players played McIntyre's whole game plan which was to sit deep and...

He came out of retirement to play for us when we needed help. First time round, he went to Hearts so we received a fee rather than taking a bigger offer from an Austrian club (Sturm Graz I think). United were also in for him but he refused to go there out of respect for Dundee. The guy's done more for the club than most players we've had over the years. Fair enough, it didn't work out for him as manager but there's no justification for calling him names and saying he tried to kill the club. None.

My uncontrolable seethe and dread is subsiding a little. Going by his words on the radio tonight, it seems highly unlikely that the rat will be returning to Dens in any capacity. One positive from this debacle so far - it’s reminded me that we can do brilliant things when we pull together. Time to get right behind the new manager and the boys tomorrow. Massive game. Come on the Dee ️

C'mon Jazza & Jimmy Nic!!!. Let's get some Feckin positivity for this pair, forget the past and move forward. Jimmy and the support network can make the big calls behind the scenes and Jazza can pick up experience along the way and be the motivational face on the front line. Goodwin, Robertson, Robbie Feckin Neilson can Feck off, McPake's the man now and gets my full support. Thoughts of season tickets are flooding my brain. Best of luck to all the new appointments. I went to my first game watching the Dees in early 1970’s to watch them play East Fife in a Scottish cup tie in Methil. We won 1-0 with a first minute goal which we did not see because of the crowd getting in. Over these years I have seen them win the league cup, been promoted and relegated more times that I would care to recall. I have seen two admins and the club still goes on and is in my blood. Tonight like all my fellow Dees I am as sick as a dog. I started the season with lots of hope and it’s gone down and down...

There was no secrecy to the meeting at all, if Islay doesn’t want to share details then that his call AGM itself was just usual sort of business The Q&A was completely focused on share issue - there will be a clarification email out in the coming days my takeaways - consultation was a incorrect as it states FPS desire is for 75%+ , it’s not its to amend the entrenched rights ( as they have no desire to purchase dfcss ordinary shares - the entrenched rights have already been broken ie level of borrowing, but the only recourse society has is legal which is a road they would...

Been on a bit of a self inflicted hiatus from posting. However couldnt let the 20th anniversary of Dariusz thumping an injury time equaliser past Dykstra pass without a mention. Wonderful wing play from Ando, great knock back from Falconer and some suspect keeping from big Sieb. One of my favourite Moments as a younger dee. Absolute scenes after that goal. The sort of moment that probably still gives Jim Thompson nightmares. Maybe I’m just getting misty eyed but football was just better in those days. the pole

Dees at Dens yesterday. 4700 for the opener v Aberdeen. Hospitality half empty yesterday. Out the cup. Bottom of the league. P6 L6 against teams from the top 2 divisions. Lose just about every game we play at Dens. Managers top flight win percentage must be up there with the lowest in our entire history. The board can't be happy with this sh1te that's being served up? How about they do something about it and hire a proper experienced manager that knows what he's doing? It's their job. Are they just going to sit back and watch this? Nelms can't be happy sitting watching the team lose every week in...

Try to bear in mind that if Moussa doesn't hit an abominable penalty in the opener, and if JackHam didn't fancy himself to beat a man instead of make the simple play in that same game, if Jordan Jones doesn't con a ref, if Kusunga doesn't put his hand above his head vs Aberdeen, if Caulker wanted to play football (instead of just conspire his way out of Dundee) with any desire vs St Johnstone instead of strut around like a show pony watching Tony Watt play him for the fool, if Andy Boyle hadn't scored an own goal vs Killie, if McIntyre hadn't publically announced that he was going...

Hopefully this news will help to lift the dark clouds a little bit.. The Dee Academy 11 year olds (2007 age group) that we all chipped in to sponsor on this forum claimed the runner-up spot in the Katoni Cup competition up in Aberdeen yesterday. Results were as follows: Dundee 3- 1 Ross County Dundee 4 - 2 Hibs Dundee 5 - 1 Aberdeen Group winners! Semi - Dundee 4 - 0 Hearts Final - Dundee 3 - 6 Celtic Young Owen Middler & Aaron Clark collected the player and goalkeeper of the tournament awards. Fantastic stuff from the boys and their coach, John Coleman! Well done all

Before I get to the Rallying Call bit I admit to being as critical of the team, management, board etc. as the next supporter. The season so far has been horrendous, the appointment of N McC ultimately turned out disastrous. Recruitment of foreign mercenaries and dross from the lower leagues in England was criminal. I was and still am not enamoured with our new choice of manager. Up to Saturday, perhaps, I have criticised the application and commitment of many/most of the players. Gate prices are at least arguably too high. The having to queue twice to pay on the day annoys many. BUT I assume all Dees are desperate...

I remember watching Dundee in the old First Division and us having zero presence in midfield. It used to do my head in. Some days you knew we had no chance of winning because we were non-existent in the middle. With Gowser you always have a presence. He might be ineffective at times but he never hides. He always tries to get the team going. It's disappointing to see Dees laying into him after what he's given to the team.

A few years back I went to RBS for a mortgage in Edinburgh and the young lad in the bank was Bobby Wisharts nephew. We had been chatting football whilst form filling and I had mentioned I was a Dee. I knew Bobby from living a couple of streets from me so that came into the chat too. I mentioned that Gillie was my Dads hero and I had been brought up on tales of his excellence. I had to return to the bank a few days later to complete some other formalities but the lad asked me to meet him at my local branch rather than HQ in town...

It has come to my attention that members of this forum have been discussing the Dundee FC backroom staff and their especially their jobs on this forum. I want to make this VERY clear, discussion regarding the backroom at Dens Park is out of bounds as per our Community Guidelines and our moderators will remove such posts which break our Forum Rules. This includes discussing people losing their jobs. I want to make a few things quite clear, the Staff on this forum will NEVER endorse any member of the Dundee FC backroom staff losing their jobs. That is a bloody minter. A fuss like this over a flag. Where the hell is our apology for the smoke bombs thrown into the Derry early in the season? Where is the apology for the utter embarrassment that took place in the Shankly on Boxing Day 2012? Where is our apology for them being absolute mutants and a stain on Scottish football in general (along with their twins). There no anti “Irish” (90% of them couldn’t point to Eire on a map) agenda. There’s only an agenda against grown adults who act like despicable morons Pandering to them to get 30 quid a head from the hordes. Very well...

I think you have to go back to Gordon Chisholm to find a manager that last achieved a feat that no other Dundee boss has since. Whether Barry Smith, John Brown, Paul Hartley, Neil McCann or the current incumbent, Jim McIntyre, not one of those gaffers has united the support in a way that Chis and his assistant Billy Dodds did. Admittedly, the near unification was that no one thought the ex-Arab and Dee defector were the right men for the job and while circumstances overtook the ex-DAB and Queen of the South manager, that he followed a Dee legend in Jocky Scott, who was sacked while his side were...

There is a fundamental problem with this organization on and off the field . Unfortunately I think it starts at the top with the Yanks. And it all filters right on down to the field of play. It's just bizarre because St Johnstone could beat Aberdeen and nobody would really bat an eye, but conversely we could beat St Johnstone and nobody would really bat an eye. So well money is obviously an issue in world football - most of the Euro leagues are 2,3, or 4 horse races, but there is something more rotten in the state of Dundee! But the fact that we can't get our noses out...

Most pleasing thing about Dundee right now is the way we react to setbacks. St Mirren go ahead thanks to a dodgy penalty and we bounce back to take a point. Hibs look as if they have the points sewn up when 2-0 up at Easter Road but we come back to get the draw. Today we played 70 minutes with 10 men against Rangers and pulled together to take another great point. It's particularly pleasing when you consider we lost our previous 14 league games when we fell behind.

Sick of hearing so much negativity around this game from Dundee fans. Fans moan about the £30 ticket price (quite rightly) but then a lot of fans saying they're not going to go even with their season ticket. That right there is why it's £30. Because fans aren't going even with a free ticket. So on that basis no wonder the club are trying maximise income from this game. Fans threaten not to go if McCann isn't sacked. Fans threaten not to go if Billy Dodds is appointed. The club listen to the fans yet fans are still not willing to go and back their team in numbers. What does...

Neil McCann gets - 3 transfer windows 8 defeats from 9 several hammerings 3-0 from Ayr at Dens several player fall outs signs a bunch of nobodies who are out of their depth at this level before some boys decide he's not a manager and anyone who wanted him out during this period was accused of "knicker wetting" being a "doom merchant", season doesn't start until September, it's early days etc and yet A lot of the same boys have gave McIntyre 0, 1 or 2 games with McCann's players before deciding he isn't the man for the job? Pretty much everyone on here would've been delighted if we'd signed Shankland, I can't understand why he's now being branded a potential flop because he's went elsewhere. The spin surrounding this transfer is incredible.

We’ve been relegated before - sometimes in heartbreaking circumstances, sometimes through sheer bad luck and sometimes through little fault of our own. However, the complete and utter shambles that was the 2018/19 season has to go down as one of the most complete and abject failures I’ve witnessed as a Dundee supporter. Poor recruitment at managerial level, baffling player recruitment in an attempt to build a squad (not once but twice) capable of competing with Championship sides in the cups, never mind top flight teams, and a lack of fight, desire, passion, awareness and ability on the park. It’s basically impossible to look at any aspect of this season just...

Considering we got beat, I came away thinking on another day we would have won that game, we got no luck or decisions whatsoever, whereas Hibs got every decision and all the luck throughout the whole game! But I was proud of every player in Dark Blue tonight, we never gave up and I honestly thought we were the better team for large parts of the game.and it is only going to get better as we have Andrew Davies to come in soon for Kusunga and I also liked the look of O Sullivan and Robson looked really composed, and I think might be the biggest signing for JM so...

It's good that we now have cover and competition for right back now. I agree that Cammy has been a shadow of the player he was a couple of seasons ago but I don't think it's down to complacency. I don't see any lack of effort from him but I do think he is in need of a wee break. He's still a relatively young player who has been an almost ever present for a few seasons now, often playing in high pressure games. I'd hate to see JM discard him entirely.

Although this has been mainly around personal & private reasons (with certainly a few health issues thrown into the mix) And with the current catastrophic form DFC has been enduring this season, coming on to the forum to lift my spirits or for even get back that wee smile has no been the answer (No surprisingly in these times some, posters are a might "touchy") Meanwhile "Mon the Dee"

Me too, where ever he ends up I wish him the best. Feel a bit sorry for the guy to be honest, he comes across as a real decent guy who tries his best. Hope he hasn’t heard much of the abuse that has been thrown his way over the past year and a half. Not up to the standard we are needing but wasn’t afraid to give it everything and work hard no matter what

    • Match Aftermath: St Johnstone 1 - 0 Dundee (25th Aug 2018)
The Dark Blues lose their fourth game in a row away to St Johnstone, leaving the Dark Blues with no points in three league matches.

Again it was a player who could have been a Dark Blue who scores. Tony Watt who had trained with the club joined St Johnstone earlier this month scored the only goal just after the break.

Dundee again had plenty of chances but failed to monopolise on the them.

Pick 11 Dundee players before our league season kicks off at 3pm on Saturday. Formation can be 4-4-2. 4-3-3 or 3-5-2. Five points for an appearance and 10 points for a goal. Captain scores double.

Free to enter a team. Prize to be decided.

      This is my team...

Shaw however, clearly had an axe to grind as The Courier headline revealed ‘Shaw Pays Big Tribute To McCormack’. With the ‘new’ signing explaining further… “If I’d been given the same offer by Jim Duffy back at the start of the season I wouldn’t have been looking for a move in the first place.” Going on to have another swipe at his ex-boss by adding “…And from where I am standing it seems there’s one rule for managers and one for players, because while I was unable to join another Scottish team because no-one could agree a fee with Dundee, Jim Duffy was able to take himself off to Hibs no problem.”

    • The sale of Jim Hamilton to Hearts for £200,000 highlighted the two other major issues Dundee faced at the time. Namely a budget that barely seemed able to cover the heating bill, never mind a promotion push and the complete disinterest of the club’s latest white knight turned villain, Canadian ‘business man’ and club owner Ron Dixon.
