    The Dark Blues Posting Guidelines

Participation in the The Dark Blues Forum website constitutes agreement to the following guidelines, which apply to posts, profile information, avatars, signatures, any other content on this site and participation in general. This includes private messages, which we have the ability to read, but only do so when a violation is reported to us or we have a legitimate reason (Request by the police or through a court order).

Because of the live nature of the discussions on this community, it is not possible for us to review and/or confirm the accuracy or validity of any message before it is posted. If you believe that someone has violated our Forum Rules, please use the report button or send a private message to a member of staff with a link to the content and a brief description of what you believe is wrong.

Notification is voluntary and anonymous, but in no case should a user respond to a situation personally, thereby aggravating the situation further. Responding to a violation in an inflammatory manner is a violation in itself and will result in appropriate action.

For full details about reporting posts and what to do if your posts are moderated see

    • How do I report a post?

Rule of thumb when posting on the Dark Blues:

    • Please treat all staff members, moderators and fellow community members with respect and consideration at all times. People will disagree with your opinions and suggestions. This is natural. That's how discussions work.
    • Personal attacks, name calling, flaming, taunting, baiting or just plain disrespect of fellow community members is strictly not allowed.  Please refrain from inflammatory and defamatory comments, calling out other members, stating that your posts are fact or demand other members produce facts to back up their posts.
    • We understand that discussions may become heated and we might not always agree with everyone, however, we will not allow our members to demean other members. Such posts such as 'I'm right your wrong', 'Embarrassing post!', 'What a load of crap' is not acceptable or wanted on our forums. If you wish to have an argument (heated or not) with another member, then be polite and respectful at all times.
    • Please do not make uninvited remarks regarding other members typo's, spelling, grammar or posting styles.
    • Do not present your argument as the 'factual', FACT! or 'I'm right' unless you can back them up with solid evidence. These posts will be removed by our moderators without notice.
    • Do not post images or emotes to taunt, flame, bait or disrespect other members.

We promise to allow and afford our members to freedom of expression within reasonable confines of UK and Scottish law and decent and appropriate behaviour.

Dark Blues Forum has strict policies regarding what content is and is not acceptable on our service. If you believe there has been a violation of one of our policies, we invite you to report this information to our Abuse Team for investigation.

All users have the option to report abuse for posts containing one or more of the following:

    • Offensive or obscene language,
    • personal attacks,
    • racist characterizations,
    • ethnic slurs,

Please do NOT report content because:

    • You feel you're right and they are wrong,
    • You don't like a member or their post,
    • You have the right to free speech or they're trampling on your free speech,
    • Because you want to give advise on spelling mistakes, typo's or poor grammar,
    • Because they're not accepting your argument and you are getting butt hurt about it.

All reported abuse posts will be reviewed by the moderation staff.

    Back Seat Moderation

Let the Forum Moderators do the moderating. Back-seat Moderating is when people who are not Moderators try to enforce the forum rules. Whenever you see a person breaking the rules, take advantage of the "Report" link. Or simply just IGNORE the offensive post(s) or thread.

    No Politics or Religious Discussion

Unfortunately, these topics have proven too divisive, and moderator energy is a limited resource that is too often expended trying to police the inflammatory posts that result from these topics. Discussion of sport is what we aim to have these forums produce and promote. A thread that has evolved into a political or religious discussion will have posts removed from it, or may be locked in its entirety.

    Forum Posting Guidelines

If left, all posts that feature inappropriate links will be removed.
    • Illegal Activities: Posts that discuss illegal activities, transactions, or websites such as warez, cracks, etc. will be removed. This includes the posting of information that you have obtained illegally.

For text articles, most of the time you may quote a small portion of the article (usually no more than 1/5 or 1/6) and you must link to the source (if online) or provide the source (if offline). Posting the entire article, even with the source, constitutes copyright infringement. This is not the place to illegally trade or distribute copyrighted (or those with questionable copyright status) video or audio clips.

Anyone who posts a private message or email from a member of staff on this forum or anywhere else will receive an instant ban (regardless of the reason why).
    • Personal Discussion: The forums are not there for personal discussion between two friends. Please use the Private Message system instead. Topics or posts that seem to be personal in nature will be removed.
    • Cross Posting and Duplicate Topics/Posts: Do not cross post your topics/questions in different forums. Please use the most suitable forum for your topic. To keep the forum free of clutter and double posts, we will remove duplicate posts from the forum and leave the original intact. If we move a topic from one forum to another we will leave a link to the moved topic and this link will last for 30 days from the time the post is removed.
    • Power Posting: Power-posting is best described when using very short worthless messages. Normally this done to increase a person’s post count or to lend support as if it is a vote count. Examples are but not limited to: ‘+1, lol, me too, I agree or using a smiley such as : )’. These types of posts will be deleted.

If you believe that any member is an Arab poster, we ask that you report this member to a moderator and let us deal with them. Usernames generally should not include a reference to any sports teams other than Dundee FC. We have a strict policy against members creating profile names to cause a wind-up on the forum.
