Betfred League Cup Preview: Brechin City
Dundee take on Brechin City our final game of the Betfred League Cup group stage knowing that a win will more than likely see the Dee qualify for the last 16 in second place.
PREVIEW
After the horror show that DUNDEE served up last weekend, the Dee bounced back with a 2-0 victory away to Petehead. Kharl Madianga grabbed his first goal in the dark blue while Jean Alassane Mendy made it two goals in three since joining us.
Elliot Parish was given a run out and returned with a clean-sheet which will undoubtedly give McCann a headache with who he feels should be tween the sticks.
Steven Caulker and Jesse Curran will have also put themselves in the frame for a starting spot following their displays. Nathan Ralph is also available for selection along with Glenn Kamara.
BRECHIN CITY will travel to Dens with nothing to play for and licking their wounds following a midweek 7-1 defeat to soon-to-be group winners Dunfermline.
They will have Euan Smith and Andy Jackson available for this tie while Giuiliano Morena, Jordan Sinclair and Ryan McGeever will miss out.
After failing to win a single game last season, Brechins league cup campaign has seen them draw against Peterhead but lose out on penalties for the bonus point and grabbed their first win in 241 days with a victory away to Stirling Albion.
The last time the clubs met was also in this competition and it was also the first time ever we had been drawn in the league cup. The match ended 2-2 with our goals coming from Leigh Griffiths and Brechins from Rory McAllister. Brechin would win the tie 3-1 on penalties.
