Betfred League Cup Preview: Peterhead F.C
Dundee go into Wednesday's clash against Peterhead with their hopes of reaching the last 16 of the League Cup hanging in the balance after Sundays defeat at home to Dunfermline.
THE DEE need to deliver six-points this week in our ties with Peterhead and Brechin and by firing in plenty of goals to give the club the best possible chance to proceed from the group stages in second place. With Dunfermline unlikely to slip up in their last two games, that’s the situation we find ourselves in.
Sunday was a horror show for the team and especially for the fans who watched the defeat to the Pars. It was lacklustre to say the least and Dundee were made to look like the Championship side instead of our opponents. The team lacked any urgency and it seemed like the eleven players on the park were total strangers and only met a few minutes before kick off.
It was an unacceptable performance which all us supporters hope have been met with a swift boot up the 'erse.'
Dundee also face the possibility of missing the three players who came off injured on Sunday, Sofien Moussa, Nathan Ralph and Genseric Kusunga. Also, still out of action will be Glenn Kamara and Roarie Deacon. Darren O'Dea has returned to training.
PETERHEAD are already out of this competition so they have nothing to play for except getting fitness levels up and prepared for the start of their League One campaign.
The Blue Toon have yet to find the back of the net so far in the League Cup but they still have the threat of Rory McAlister up top along with old foe Derek Lyle. Derek however is just recovering from a calf strain and with his partner due to give birth this week, may not yet make the match.
