League Preview: Aberdeen

The Dark Blues are currently on their worse ever run of defeats against the Dons with nine straight losses and we haven't tasted victory over them in twelve since Thomas Konrad and David Clarkson scored to give us a 2-1 win in the Scottish Cup 4th round back in 2014.

If we exclude that victory in the cup, we have went a full NINETEEN matches since we last managed a league victory over the Dons. This came at Dens when Neil Barrett scored the only goal of the match way back in 2004!

That's some depressing reading right there!

PREVIEW

DUNDEE started off their campaign by gifting St Mirren al three points last Saturday.

Last season’s attacking options reared their ugly head with it being a case of déjà vu for players, management and supporters. Then we had the minute of madness at the back that ultimately gifted the home side all three points.

It would be very harsh however to start writing off players and team with some knee-jerk comments. Of course, the Dunfermline game gave us an indication that we were severely lacking in some areas but hopefully when we recruit players to fill these voids, then we will see a team that will hopefully improve on last terms league position.

Roarie Deacon is back in training but he is still a few weeks away from being included in the matchday squad.

ABERDEEN started off their Premiership campaign with a 1-1 draw against ten-man The Rangers last weekend.

The Dons played for the best part of 80 minutes with a man advantage but despite this, they needed an injury time equaliser with their only shot on target.

Derek McInnes team have on course been on European duty this summer when they came up against English side Burnley. They certainly didn’t let themselves down by more than matching their opponents from the self-proclaimed ‘Best league in the world.’

Unfortunately, despite a 1-1 draw at home, Burnley would proceed to the next round of the competition but they would need extra-time to get passed he har working Dons.

Scott McKenna will miss out due to injury who will be out for around six to eight weeks and joins long term casualties Mark Reynolds and Tommie Hoban along with Shay Logan who is serving a suspension.
