League Preview: Kilmarnock

After six straight defeats in the league, Dundee finally managed to pick up a win with a 2-0 victory away to Hamilton. The Dee ill be hoping that last Saturdays result will be a turning point for the team as they hope to lift themselves from the foot of the table.

The Dark Blues may have rode their luck in the second half but they still managed to see out the game with a clean sheet and a goal in either half which will boost the confidence of the squad.

Dundee will also have Roarie Deacon and Paul McGowan back for this tie which will give Neil McCann an welcomed headache of having options from the bench if he sticks to the same team from Saturday. Deacon made his first appearance this season when he came on as a substitute in the Hamilton victory and contributed for the second. 

Kenny Miller will also be available after he finished serving his two-match suspension.

Kilmarnock are our next opponents and the Ayrshire team come to Dens on the back of a fine start to their season which has seen them collect thirteen points and sitting in fourth position in the league. 

With victories over teams such as Aberdeen and Celtic already and ex Dee Greg Stewart rekindling the form that he produced while at Dens, Killie will be hoping to come to Dundee to make it three wins on the trot and claiming second place in the table.

Last Meeting: Kilmarnock 3-2 Dundee 13/02/18

Our last meeting with Kilmarnock came all the way back in February. Both teams were just a few points away from the play-off spot so a win for either would see a little breathing space between them and Partick Thistle.

Killie drew first blood in the opening minutes when Eamonn Brophy netted the opener but Dundee would draw level on the half hour mark when Sofien Moussa slotted home from the penalty spot.

The second half would have much more drama.

Debutant Steven Caulker headed Dundee in front from a Roarie Deacon corner and then Gary Dicker was given his second yellow card of the game that seen Kilmarnock reduced to ten-men.There was chances for both sides but despite Dundee having the man advantage, it would be Killie that would see out the game as the winners.

Kris Boyd curled home the equaliser then with minutes to go, Iain Wilson ran around 40-yards before banging home the winner despite protests of a foul in the build up to his winner for Kilmarnock's seventh consecutive win at home.
