Rangers: The View From The Opposition

The Dee go into this match with Rangers on the back of two confidence boosting performances that came in our draw on Sunday with Hearts amd then on Wednesday at Parkhead against Celtic which also produced a point.

Rangers will be looking for a win to keep their challenge for second place going, especially since they have only picked up one point in their last three matches.

We spoke to Rangers FC Fan Page to get their views leading up to Saturdays clash.

Rangers started the second half of the season well when you when you won 6 out of 7. The last three games however has seen them slump to two defeats and then clawing back a two goal deficit to get a draw with Motherwell. What do you think has contributed to this 'mini slump?'

There has been a wealth of factors contributing to our recent struggle in the last few games. First of all, Murty’s tactical inexperience has cost us, especially when it comes down to making changes which was on display in the Old Firm when Jozo Simunovic was sent off, ultimately costing Rangers the game as Murty chose not to expose the man down by bringing on a striker and pushing for more. Another factor which has contributed has been the injury of David Bates, forcing a back pair of Martin and Alves who have been nothing short of frauds since pairing up together. 

Rangers now find themselves three points behind Aberdeen in the league with Hibs breathing down your neck. It's going to be a tasty run in for who finishes second but can you see Rangers being that team?

It’s tough to say at the moment. If we don't make changes in tactics and formation then it'll be a miracle if we get any wins post-split. If we see a revival in the form previous to the Old Firm (game) then I feel we should finish second by beating Aberdeen once more. 

There is plenty of speculation around Graeme Murty and if he will be the club's long-term manager. What's your take on this? Would he be your choice or is there another name you have in mind?

Personally, I do not have a specific candidate in mind. However, I just do not want to see Murty in the dugout next season. As much of a nice guy he is, his tactical inexperience has ultimately cost Rangers points. I feel there is still a lot of learning for Murty before he can even be considered as a real candidate for the job on a permanent basis. There would also have to be a major turn around from Murty if he was to stand a chance of getting the supporters back on-board. 

Ross McCrorie is one player that has impressed me when I've seen him play. Can we see him making an appearance on Saturday?

Ross has returned to full training and was available for selection for the trip to Motherwell. I do not expect him to start and be thrown in straight away however he may make an appearance in the later stages of the match off the bench. Also, with Jordan Rossiter returning to full fitness he may be given the nod over McCrorie by Murty.

You've seen the good and bad sides of Dundee this season with a win against us at Ibrox and a defeat at Dens? What's your take on our current team and league position?

Dundee have been a side who have vastly underperformed this season however look likely to stave off relegation for another season and a team who have quality in the midfield with the likes of Kamara, Spence and McGowan, as well as carrying the threat of Simon Murray. They have also pulled off some unbelievable signings bringing in Premier League experience in the form of Caulker and a Europa League winner Aurtenetxe.

Murty had managed two, loss two against Dundee. Can Rangers end their run of three matches without a win and get a victory over us or will Dundee build on taking points off of Hearts and Celtic and ease our relegation fears?

I do feel we have enough quality to claim all three points and expect us to do so, however, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a 0-0 draw or even a loss as we have struggled to break teams down at home who have sat back and I expect Dundee to do just that and hit us on the counter.
