“The gaffer wants us to play and I love it,” he said. “It’s the way to play. Yes, we are going to get caught in possession now and again, but it’s part and parcel of trying to do it,” Said McGowan.
“You can say it’s a bit iffy at times, but it worked for us at Celtic. They might not have been at full strength, but we gave them a game and they can count themselves lucky to win.
“The fans will be on the edge of their seats, but it’s the way to go. We will lose goals by it, but as the gaffer says, that’s on me. He wants us to do it.
“We are starting to gel. There are a lot of new recruits and we are starting to look like a really good team.
“The manager wants no fear. We will make mistakes, but he says he’ll take the flak, he’ll deal with it. That’s great for the young boys.”

Olivier Ntcham scored the only goal of the game in second half to continue Celtics lengthy unbeaten run domestically but they would have to call on the services of goalkeeper Dorus de Vries to keep the Dee at bay.
Dundee seen goal bound efforts from Roarie Deacon, Faissal El-Bakhtaoui and Paul McGowan blocked by the Dutchman.

Olivier Ntcham's second-half strike was enough to give Celtic a 1-0 over Dundee at Celtic Park.

We caught up with Focus On Celtic to ask them a few questions in the run up to this weekends match.

So, are you happy with how the start of your League campaign has panned out?

Yeah, I’m happy with the start we’ve made. We’ve had a couple of home draws, but you can’t win them all, especially after European trips.

What has been the best result and performance Celtic have produced in the first eight matches?

I think for me it has to be the Rangers game. People expected the result to be a bit tighter this time around, but we completely dominated the game and always looked comfortable. It was only 2-0 but I felt like we could have stepped up a few gears if we needed to.

Unsurprisingly, Aberdeen are right up there with you in the early stages of the season. Do you see them being your main challengers this year?

For me Aberdeen had the best summer. Some of the signings they made have really added to a squad, and I thought they might struggle after losing a couple of big players. I think they are stronger this season so I expect them to push for second again, alongside Rangers and perhaps Hibs. I think Motherwell and St Johnstone will make up the top 6 too. I’ve been really been impressed by Steven Robinson.

What other clubs do you expect to be near the top?

I think Motherwell and St Johnstone will make up the top 6 too. I’ve been really been impressed by Steven Robinson.

In the Champions League you never had the best of starts with a big defeat at home to PSG. You bounced back with a huge win in Belgium, becoming the first Scottish team to win in that country since Dundee back in 1967. Was this result a surprise to the fans?

I think it was a surprise to score three, but when Celtic actually get the ball down and play the way Rodgers wants us to play then we’ll always make chances, so I’m not surprised we won, although most fans would have been happy with a draw.

With your group stage so strong, can the win over Anderlecht give you the confidence to pick up more points especially at home?

We can definitely beat Anderlecht at home and I think if we play like we did in Belgium then we’ll push Bayern. They are having issues but they are still a fantastic side. Celtic will have to be at their best in both games to get the victories.

Back onto the domestic side, who’s been making your team tick so far?

In terms of making the team tick, you have to look at Scott Brown. He’s not the best midfielder we’ve ever had, but the guy dictates the play, and can change the game with one challenge. He’s a big loss when he’s out of the team. Honourable mention for Callum McGregor because he has been tremendous when called upon, and he’s clearly a big player for Brendan’s Rodgers.

It’s now 58 games undefeated domestically. How far can you see this run going?

I think the run will keep going for as long as we can reduce the injuries and not take any team for granted. I think the best chance teams have of beating Celtic is after a tough European game, but Celtic haven’t hit their peak yet so we can always go up a level.

We’ve already met this season in the League Cup and we were beaten 4-0 at Dens. It was a disappointing display from our team. Were you expecting a different Dundee team to show up?

Yeah I though Dundee were disappointing. I’m not a fan of Neil McCann for obvious reasons but you have played some half decent stuff this season, and perhaps you’re short of goals. I think it will be a tighter game on Saturday but I can’t see Dundee getting anything.

Prediction time now. How do you see this match ending?

I think it will be 3-1 to Celtic.
