Dundee down for 4 in 4 as Motherwell walk away from Dens with three goals and three points.

The Dark Blues are stuck at the bottom of the league with no points after another disappointing defeat in the league. Neil McCann’s side are still searching for that elusive first win in the Ladbrokes Premier league.

Neil McCann made three changes to the line-up which lost to St Johnstone last week. Newly signed Kenny Miller replaced Jean Alassane Mendy, who was relegated to the bench. Cammy Kerr replaced Nathan Ralph (injured) at left-back and Genseric Kusunga came in for Steven Caulker, who left the club before the end of the window. Glen Kamara missed the game through injury.

Dundee’s three other new arrivals Ryan Inniss, Andy Boyle and Calvin Miller all made it to the bench.

Motherwell started in the same fashion as they ended their game against Rangers last week, and from the start put pressure on a Dundee team who seem to be lacking in confidence.

Jack Hamilton was the first keep to be called into action. Andy Rose towered above Jesse Curran but his powerful header pulled off a good save from the Dundee Keeper, who ‘parried’ the ball away at the back post.

Motherwell were back on the attack several minutes later. Jesse Curran looked to have fouled Main, but the referee let play go on. Josh Meekings was caught in possession but luckily enough for the centre-back, Curtis Main’s shot flew wildly past the post.

Paul McGowan spared the Dundee blushes when he came back to help out the Dundee defence who were all at sixes and sevens. A Chris Cadden short throw to Allan Campbell, who calmly chipped the ball over Josh Meekings just outside the six yard box and with the ball bouncing, McGowan calmly headed the ball back into the arms of Jack Hamilton.

The home side didn’t trouble the Motherwell defence for most of the first half. It was only when Jesse Curran made runs down the Dundee Flank did it seem there could put any pressure or chances from the home side.

Kharl Madianga and Lewis Spence linked up well on the left, for all of Kharl Madianga nice work to create a chance for himself. However, his shot was well wide of the target.

Neil McCann was forced to make an enforced change just before the end of the first half. Josh Meekings came off injured and was replaced by the Crystal Palace loanee Ryan Inniss, who had just signed on the Friday deadline night.

On the 52nd minute, Peter Hartley looked to have brought down Ryan Innis and The Dark Blues were looking for a foul just outside the Motherwell box, but the official waved play on. Trever Carson with a long ball up the park caught out the sleeping Dundee Defence, and Cammy Kerr had to make an important challenge and disposes the Motherwell forward before he could fire in a shot at goal.

On the 55th minute, it was Motherwell who took the lead.  Elliot Fear with a cross into the Dundee box should have been easily dealt with by Genseric Kusunga, but the defender mistimed the cross and the ball landed at the feet of the unmarked Danny Johnstone, who tapped the ball into the Dundee Net.

Calvin Miller was the second to make his Dundee debut, it was Adil Nabi who gave way for the young Celtic player.

Motherwell went two up in the 67th minute. Calvin Miller tried to bring the ball down just outside the Dundee box and clattered into Tom Aldred. A Gael Bigirimana free kick just 22 yards out went straight through the wall and into Jack Hamilton’s right hand post, leaving the Dundee keeper with little to no chance.

Calvin Miller made some good runs down and crosses from the left-hand flank and in the 70th minute Dundee pulled a goal back. A Calvin Miller cross from the left was blocked and out for a Dundee corner.

Calvin Miller’s corner was fired just outside the Motherwell 6 yard box and was met by a Benjamin Källman header and straight into the bottom right of Carson’s goal. His first goal in a Dee shirt.

Dundee started playing some decent passing football and this nearly led to a second goal for the Dee. Calvin Miller was starting to become a real threat to the Motherwell defence down the left wing. He skipped past Richard Tait and fired in a cross, which was headed away by the Motherwell defence into the path of Paul McGowan - who chested the ball down but his shot brought out a great save from Trever Carson.

It was Calvin Miller who again was getting into the action down the left-hand side. His in swinging cross just glanced off the top of Källman’s head and ball fell harmlessly into the Motherwell’s keeper’s arms.

In the 87th minute, Motherwell killed off any chance of a Dundee equaliser. Motherwell were awarded a free-kick just outside the Dundee penalty box. Bigirimana placed the ball short down the right hand side to Connor Sammon, who found Allan Campbell in space and Campbell hammered it past a helpless Hamilton to make it 3 – 1 the visitors.
