New Dundee Boss Jim McIntyre shown the uphill task which awaits him as Dundee thoroughly beaten 4 - 0 by Livingston.

Jim McIntyre's reign as the new Dundee manager couldn't have gotten off to a worse start.

Any inspiration from Jim McIntyre's arrival was quickly deflated by a display that bore the resemblance to his predecessor Neil McCann.

Dundee started well, but Kenny Miller missed a perfect opportunity to put the visitors ahead when his shot curled past Kelly's post.

It was Ex-Dee Declan Gallagher who opened the scoring when he got the better of Ryan Inniss. Gallagher rose above Inniss at the back post and sent a looping header over Elliot Parish.

Livingston went two up just before half-time. The Dundee defence was caught missing in action and gifted Livingston their second goal. Craig Halkett found plenty of space and headed a Jacobs’s free-kick into the far corner of the Dundee goal.

Sofien Moussa was looking for a penalty 20 minutes after the second half started. The Dundee striker insisted the ball struck against Lawless arm but referee Nick Walsh was having not of it.

On the 76th minute, Livingston went three ahead in what was a carbon copy of their second goal. A hapless Elliot Parish was left rooted to his line as Alan Lithgow dummied a Steven Lawless free-kick, and the ball somehow found its way into the back of the net.

With a few minutes left to spare on the clock, Livingston turned the scoreline into a route. Livingston was awarded a corner kick. Centre-back Lithgow found himself unmarked at the back post and managed to bundle the ball between Lewis Spence and the goal post.

The Dundee players were warned beforehand of the dangers of set pieces.

McIntyre said, "A very bad start, if you gift the goals we gave away you are never going to win a football match."

"We spoke of the need not to give silly free-kicks away against a team that are very strong in set plays."

The players didn't do their jobs and were punished four times, this is embarrassing and not good enough."

McIntyre's appointment was a bit of a whirlwind affair, with McCann, sacked Tuesday and McIntyre stepping in the next day this didn't leave the new manager much time to train and get to know his squad.

The Dark Blues will face league leaders Hearts on Tuesday.
