Men's mental health charity Andys Man Club is £850 better off thanks to a sponsored half marathon run by Dundee FC fan Scott Glenday. A cheque was presented to AMC representatives Alex McClintock and Adam Allison at Dens Park in the presence of Dundee FC Community Trust Director Steve Martin.
It is hoped this will be the beginning of a new partnership between the Trust and the Charity. DFC Community Trust is keen to support the efforts of Alex and Adam who have set up sessions to date in Perth, Dundee, Oban and Glasgow. The two Perth Prison PT Instructors brought the initiative to Scotland just over a year ago and have plans to expand their activities further afield.
What Dundee FC Community Trust hope to do is assist them to promote their activities and to build on their Dundee project by way of facilitating an additional recreational activity that will be free to participants.
Scott thanked those who kindly donated and said, ‘ I’ve been really impressed by the dedication and commitment of Adam, Alex and those who help them with Andys Man Club. Their work is simple but very effective, it provides great support locally to lads not having the best of times. It’s really pleasing also to see Dundee FC get involved via the Community Trust as Dundee United and St Johnstone currently provide them with the facilities to host their weekly sessions’.
Andy's Man Club meets at 1900 every Monday at McDiarmid Park and Tannadice no booking required. Their sessions are open to men 18 and over who are going through a storm, been through a storm or just want to help like-minded men get through life.
