James McPake will be hoping to announce the signing of Rangers winger Josh McPake on a loan deal until January next week.

Dundee have been linked with a move for the highly rated 17-year-old and look to have beaten off competition from Ross County and St Johnstone to land the youngster.

The deal will be until January but there will also be an option for it to be extended until the end of the season.

Speaking after today's narrow defeat at home to Aberdeen in the League Cup in which Josh McPake was a spectator, James McPake said:

“Hopefully we will get a deal over the line for Josh and he will join us.

“I could have done with him today instead of bringing a centre half on late in the game.
