Marcel Lewis: Charlie Adam Called Me And Told Me I Was Joining Dundee
Marcel Lewis speaks to DeeTV discussing his loan transfer and how Charlie Adam was influential in the players move to Dundee.
Marcel Lewis completed his loan transfer on the last day of the transfer window.
He is a product of Cambridge United football clubs, joining the club at 9 years old and staying with the club until 2016 when he joined Chelsea, earning his scholarship in 2018.
He featured regularly in the under 18s side before he was promoted to the under 23's and went on to score five goal in 17 appearances. The winger stayed with Chelsea until his contract ran out in May 2021.
Lewis joined the Belgium side Union SG on a 3-year contract, with option to extend this to a fourth year. Making his debut against FC Lebbeke in Union SG 5th round cup 7-0 win in which he played the full 90 minutes.
After a loan stint with EFL league one side Accrington Stanley for most of the 2020-21 season, Lewis signed a two-year contract with EFL Championship Club Burnley in 2022.
The 21-year-old joined the Dark Blues on transfer deadline day until January.
Ex-Blackpool, Liverpool and Dundee Star Charlie Adam, who is now an academy coach at Burnley FC was instrumental in orchestrating Lewis’ move to Adam's boyhood club.
Speaking to DeeTV he explained how the move came about.
"I'm delighted to be here, really looking forward to getting started, and I had my first training session today which I really enjoyed. I met the rest of the team, and they're a great group, so I am just excited to get started."
"I was about to travel with the Burnley under 21s to play a game, when Charlie Adam called and told me to turn around and gave me the news that I was coming to Dundee, which I was over the moon about."
"He told me that the club is a great place to be, and great people around the club, and that I would enjoy my time here."
"I like to create chances, score goals, and I work hard on the pitch. I want to get as much game time as possible."
MaLewis will remain at the club until the January.
