We played some attractive football in the first 35 minutes on Saturday and created a host of good goalscoring chances. We created 3 even better chances early in the second half and should've been out of sight before the tinkering and late collapse. Saturday could've and should've seen a 3 or 4 goal win and a happy support. I personally think you could see that we're making progress and that bar a few mistakes, from the players (one in particular) and the manager, we'd have won easily. Saturday was a total sickener though and whilst I don't personally agree with it I can see why some are calling for change. It seems to be the modern way if managers don't hit the ground running but it's not guaranteed that change will bring any worthwhile benefits. The only guarantees are that change will cost you more money.
  2. Utd have been the more successful and probably bigger club in the city over the last 40yrs give or take the odd few of Dee dominance. It's taken them 4 seasons to start to look like Championship title favourites and even then they're still on the recieving end of unexpected results. I'm just not expecting Dundee to come down to a notoriously difficult league and find it a walk in the park, regardless of who's sitting in our dugout. Jimmy Nichol is well respected within football circles and probably doesn't deserve the criticism he's getting for not jumping around like a dafty on match day.
  3. Nope mate I'm not. Said before the game that I saw Partick as a dangerous team in a false position who'd come and cause us problems. McCall has proven in the past that tactically he's very good at this level.

    The Casuals Era

The game was on a Saturday. There may have been casuals on the pitch but it was really just an invasion of fans. I'm pretty sure their goalie lamped one of our guys and then things kicked off. The fans shouldn't have been on the pitch but it was handbags really and there was no major violence. We had to play the replay at Stirling with restricted access. ST holders only I think and you had to verify your identity before being given a ticket. I was at both games. The polis were pretty heavy handed with us after the Bankies game and I remember plain clothes polis in amongst our fans at a game Tannadice.
  5. Why would we play players out of position?. McGhee can play centre back but prefers to play r/back, why move him to a new position?. Byrne and Gowser weren't injured. I could see why he subbed both, Byrne wasn't involved a great deal and Gowser, whilst playing quite well, wasn't moving the ball as quickly as McPake would've probably liked him to. There were one or two occasions yesterday second half where a quick ball would've had Partick on the back foot and us in behind but Gowser needed an extra touch and the move broke down. I think we'd have won without the managers tinkering though, maybe not as comfortably as we should've but I think we'd have just about scraped it.
  6. I'd agree with this if we played in most of the other leagues bar the Scottish Championship. I think it's one of the most competitive league's in Europe where there's a very small points gap between the teams near the top and the teams near the bottom for practically the whole season year on year. Partick have also just replaced their manager with one of the best tacticians in this league. Patrick are not a bottom of the table Championship side and will climb this league.

    Today's 50/50 Draw.

As per usual we bought our tickets pre-match. The draw was made and all around commented on close they'd been to the winning number 10303. The section we were in had numbers either side of the winning number but not the actual winning ticket. The guy behind bought 4 tickets and was given what he thought was 4 tickets off the top of the book- 10300, 10301, 10302 and 10304. Seems a bit of a coincidence that the sequence of tickets was broken to exclude the winning ticket.
  8. The gemmes up the poley as far as I'm concerned, we're clamouring for the type of tombola selection that we accuse managers of. A dozen games and we want to spin the drum again.

Is there anything more concrete to back this up other than rumour and hearsay?.
  10. Going by today's post match comments the Dundee job would be too big for Pep Guardiola.
  11. Should've been 3 goals up by the time the first sub was made.
  12. Haven't read all of the posts but enough to get the just of things. It appears that what I heard post match wasn't just a knee jerk reaction to the result but a general feeling that JMcP is out of his depth. I'd personally be very disappointed if we pushed for him to be replaced, today was bitterly disappointing but not the end of the world. The subs weren't great but with 20 shots on goal and numerous gilt edged chances we should've been out of sight regardless of who came on and who went off. The performance, for the most part, was very good and but for some horrible finishing we'd have won at a canter. The players are the main culprits here imo.

    Best Hat-trick Dens Has Seen

Great display and hat-trick from Sara but the game will always be remembered for the shocking stuff dished out to our much superior players culminating in a career threatening injury to Fab Cab. The culprit, Kevin McDonald, never played another game for them and ended up playing for Lochee Utd which ended his 4 game professional career. Makes you think that he made his one and only appearance for Utd in a big Derby, against top, top players, for a reason.

    Biggest Roar At Dens

Probably deserved to win more than one Scotland cap when you consider some of the diddies who've played since.

    Biggest Roar At Dens

Definitely the 1987 LC Quarter Final at Dens in front of almost 20,000. What a game and what an atmosphere.

    Match Aftermath: Dundee 2 - 0 Arbroath (05 Oct 2019)

I liked Mackie yesterday, especially when he moved over to the right where I thought he added something different. Todd and McDaid when played their don't have his physical presence.

    Our Bench

McPake was very animated yesterday and encouraged the players at every opportunity, you could see how much he wanted that result. I must say I thoroughly enjoyed some of our stuff yesterday, with young Mackie deserving of extra praise after I'd slated him post Elgin where I thought he was absolutely honking. He made me eat humble pie yesterday though with a wholehearted, energetic performance, especially when he moved over to the right.

    Dundee V Arbroath Tickets

sh*t sorry mate, I was moving house on Friday plus working nights too, I had 4 hrs sleep between Thursday at 7am and Saturday at 7am, I had no wi-fi, my phone battery died and I completely forgot about the tickets as I hadn't been online. Ended up going to the game with the father-in-law (who gets in free) and the tickets went unused. To be honest I never get any interest in free tickets when I've offered them in the past and didn't really think that anyone would be interested this time.

    Jack Hamilton

I used to love an away game but didn't enjoy Dunfermline this season too much, I think I'm maybe just getting old. I think when you've got kids with you it's a different experience too.

    Mid Table Mediocrity

Nearly did after reading your quote as I was posting early morning in McDonald's after forgetting my specs, could'nae see a damn thing!.

    Mid Table Mediocrity

I love Utd losing but to be brutally honest (and sensible) I'd much rather they took points off of our rivals and ran away with the league, that would massively increase our play-off hopes.
