The St Mirren Independent Supporters Association (SMISA) bought out the remaining shareholding of chairman Gordon Scott to become majority (51%) owners of the Buddies. The deal helped safeguard the club's future – formed in 1877 – by placing it in the hands of its supporters, the people who care for it the most. The move into fan ownership came in conjunction with charity and social enterprise Kibble who, in 2020, bought a 27 percent stake to become part-owners of the club. That model – where the club is owned by its fans and run in partnership with a charity – is believed to be unique in top-flight European football and allowed SMISA to complete the transition to fan ownership in five years rather than the original 10-year plan set out in 2016. And the dream of fan ownership has only been realized thanks to the financial backing from SMISA’s nearly-1200-strong membership over the past years and the support and growth of SMISA in general from its formation almost 20 years ago. Now that the shares have been purchased, the members’ contributions instead go towards supporting different club areas, including the youth academy and the charitable foundation. SMISA have four representatives on the St Mirren board, with chairman John Needham, Alex White, Gordon Scott and Paul McNeill representing. Vice-chairman Jim Gillespie and Mark McMillan sit on the board as representatives of Kibble. Although the club is owned by its fans, the day-to-day operations will continue to be run by Chief Operating Officer Keith Lasley and the St Mirren staff. 6. V Saturday 22 July 3:00 pm Ko Excelsior Stadium CLUB HISTORY Airdrieonians FC, long known to their fans and others as The Diamonds, has a unique place in Scottish football history. Formed in 1878, a decade earlier than Glasgow Celtic, Airdrieonians made their reputation locally in 1885 by winning a charity football tournament run by the local cricket club. The following year Airdrieonians furthered that reputation nationally by inflicting a 10-2 defeat upon Glasgow Rangers, that club's worst known loss on its own ground. The 1920s brought an era of resounding success, the culmination of which was victory over Hibernian in the Scottish FA Cup in 1924. From 1922 to 1926, only Rangers and Celtic prevented Airdrieonians from winning the Scottish League. Thanks to the daring cup runs that were the club's trademark, once in a lifetime occasions became commonplace for Diamond fans. In addition to their 1924 win, Airdrieonians appeared in no fewer than three other Scottish FA Cup Finals, and innumerable other semi-finals both in that tournament and in the Scottish League Cup. Airdrieonians won the Spring Cup in 1976, captained by the legendary Derek Whiteford, and the Bells Challenge Cup in both 2000 and 2001. The history of the Diamonds is littered with glittering achievements and football landmarks, beginning with the awarding of the game's first-ever penalty kick in 1891, and a 33-year unbroken run in Scotland's top division after winning what was then called the Second League in 1902-03. Hughie Gallacher, one of the all-time great centre-forwards, sprang to national and international prominence as an Airdrie player. Manchester United poached their manager in October 1921. Stanley Matthews played in the famous shirt in the 1940 War Cup semi-final replay. The first-ever international penalty shoot-out in football took place at Broomfield, as Airdrie dumped English top division leaders Nottingham Forest out of the inaugural British (Texaco) Cup in 1970. In the same competition a season later, three other English First Division clubs, Manchester City, Huddersfield Town and Derby County, experienced first hand how hard a Diamond can be. Managed by Brian Clough at the height of his powers, Derby scraped through to victory in the final on the narrowest of margins after a 0-0 first-leg draw at Broomfield. Derby became champions of the English Football League a matter of days later, demonstrating just how excellent that Airdrie team was. All this, and more, from a club where the players could train only for a couple of hours three times a week, at the end of the working day in their real jobs, as teachers, car salesmen, electricians, builders' labourers and dustbinmen. Having been driven into full liquidation in May 2002, Airdrieonians FC became even more famous for being the first Scottish senior club to go out of business since Third Lanark in 1967. The spirit lived on, though, as the town welcomed Airdrie United into being, and saw it win the Bells Challenge Cup in 2008. Thanks to the efforts of owner and chairman Jim Ballantyne, the name Airdrieonians was restored in time for the start of the 2013-14 season. We're at last back to two lions - and a cockerel - on the shirt. There is a small ‘fan zone’ clubhouse bar at the stadium which welcomes visiting fans. As the ground is located on an industrial estate, which is about out of town too, then there is not much else nearby in terms of drinking places. One exception is the Wellington Hotel on Wellington Road (the A956) which has a sizeable bar. It is located around half a mile, or a ten minute walk away from the stadium. There is also the Landykes on Loriston Road, in Cove, located just under a mile to the east of the ground. Directions and Car Parking The Balmoral Stadium is located to the South of Aberdeen. FROM THE SOUTH Leave the A92 and take the A956 towards Altens. On reaching a roundabout with a Burger King and a Shell Garage on the left-hand side. Otherwise, there is street parking available on roads around the Balmoral Industrial Estate that the ground is located in. BY TRAIN Aberdeen Railway Station is around three miles away from the Balmoral Stadium and is uphill most of the way, so it is rather far to walk. However, there is a very good bus service that will take you along the A956 near to the stadium. From Aberdeen Railway Station cross the road to the other side of Guild Street. The First Aberdeen Number 3 bus goes from here towards Cove. After passing a Shell Garage on the left, then at the next roundabout (where there is another Shell Garage on the right and a Burger King) get off and follow the road in-between Shell and Burger King into the small Retail Park and then the Industrial Estate. 12. With it looking increasingly likely that the title is going to - at least mathematically - go down to the last game of the season, how do we see it working out? Queens fans on pie and bovril suggesting our ticket allocation could be as low as 300 which would obviously be an absolute sh*t show. Would there be a hoard of dees stood outside the ground? Lottery type draw for season ticket holders and everyone else has to do with BBC Scotland? Would the police even allow it to go ahead there? Or do we just do a Dumbarton away all over again and give all the tickets to Supporters Clubs?

  14. Going to be a tough match and our biggest game of the season so far. Whilst our record in Inverness isn't great it isn't nearly as bad as I'd thought with, over the last 10yrs, ICT having 3 wins and us having 2, one in 2018 and one last December. It'll be the league's 2 form teams though going head to head with us going for the title and ICT attempting to earn a play-off place so there'll be plenty at stake bar the points. Hopefully a large and vocal support can make the 2.5hr trip up the A9 and roar us on to victory. Tickets sorted for me +2 and raring to go.

PREVIOUS GAMES AYR UNITED | MATCH PREVIEW After Saturday’s 0-0 draw away to Partick Thistle, we are back in action three days later, this time at home to Ayr United. It’s a 7.45 pm kick-off at the Kilmac Stadium on Tuesday night as we welcome Ayr United. Just as it was on Saturday, it is second versus third in the cinch Championship, Ayr’s 2-0 win against Hamilton on Saturday takes them up to third as they overtook Thistle in the league. This will be the fourth league meeting of the sides this season, with Dundee winning the last two meetings. Back in December Dundee triumphed 2-0 at Somerset Park and the last time Ayr visited Dundee in October we won 2-1. READ MORE HERE DEE TAKE ALL THREE POINTS The Dark Blues put in a crowd-pleasing performance to see off Ayr United with a convincing 3-1 victory at the Kilmac Stadium tonight. Ryan Sweeney gave the Dee an early lead only for Dipo Akinyemi to grab a quick equaliser. Dundee shaded the first half but went on to take charge after halftime. Alex Jakubiak and Luke McCowan scored and there could have been a few more goals as the Dark Blues finished as comfortable winners. READ MORE HERE

  24. Cove Rangers Football Club is a senior Scottish football club currently playing in the Scottish Championship. They are based in the Cove Bay area of Aberdeen and play their football at Balmoral Stadium, having left their former home at Allan Park in April 2015. Cove were formed in 1922 and played in the local amateur leagues until 1985, when they became a junior team. However, the club applied and were accepted to the senior Highland Football League in 1986, where they played until winning promotion to Scottish Football League division 2 in May 2019, after beating Berwick Rangers 7–0 on aggregate in the pyramid playoff. They have also racked up a formidable reputation in the lower rounds of the Scottish Cup, reaching the 3rd round three times. In 2001 they won their first Highland League championship – but even more impressively won the 'treble' of Highland League, Aberdeenshire Shield and Scottish Qualifying Cup. In the 2007–08 season, Cove reached round four of the Scottish Cup for the first time, beating Brora Rangers away 5–0, Keith 3–0 and Edinburgh University 1–0 on the way, before losing 4–2 to Ross County. However, the south Aberdeen side claimed their second ever Highland League Championship with a 3–0 home win against Lossiemouth on 3 May 2008. Cove Rangers were one of the clubs who prepared an application for entry into the Scottish Football League following Gretna relinquishing their league status on 3 June 2008. The other clubs were Annan Athletic, Preston Athletic and Spartans.Annan Athletic were eventually awarded the place, due to their superior facilities. One of the club's most famous players is the young Scottish midfielder Paul Coutts who joined English League One club Peterborough United during the summer of 2008 for a nominal fee. Coutts won the club's Young Player of the Year award for the 2008–09 season and won eight caps for the Scotland under-21 squad, after being touted for a call up by his former manager Darren Ferguson. In 2016 the club regained their Highland League crown. Due to the introduction of the 'pyramid system' in Scottish football, Cove elected to say goodbye to their Allan Park home due to the stadium not meeting SPFL minimum stadia requirements. This in turn meant the club played all of their games at an away ground with Inverurie Locos, Formartine United and Banks O'Dee offering the use of their facilities so the club could compete. Cove went on to win the league and advance to the first play-off game against the winner of the Lowland League, Edinburgh City. The tie was won by City 4–1 on aggregate who subsequently progressed to Scottish League Two after beating East Stirlingshire in the second playoff tie.
