  3. I did this a few months back for a previous DFC group on Facebook and shared dark blues forum Facebook here it is for any 1 that has not seen it. 1 How did you become a Dundee player? I first spoke to bomber roundabout march time and I asked are you looking for a striker as a joke and he said yeah I will give you a call, he then had me scouted a few times and I had agreed a deal at the end of May 2 Do you wish you joined us sooner? Yes 100%, I didn't realise how big a club Dundee where and how nice the people at the club where, I wish I had more than 18 months there and gutted I tore my cruciate against Celtic as I thought I was playing well at the time 3 Who were you closest to in time at Dundee? It has to be Wullie dyer, I've looked after him since he was a kid at St Johnstone and also believe it or not I got him to Morton and also Dundee, as Allan Moore was needing a left back at the time so I recommended him and also bomber the same, so Wullie went on trial for a few days with Dundee and then signed along with me 4 Soapy says explain 'ayunpa' in 98? Sun, sea, and lots and lots of drink ?? 5 Best manager and captain to work with? I've loved working under every manager I've had but I think for tactical and fine detail it has to be Derek McInnes and the best captain is Gav Rae as he worked behind the scenes for the lads like you wouldn't believe 6 Your best goal in a dee shirt? I scored 2 free kicks vs Forfar a week after each other so either one of them but my most important goal I've ever scored was against Dumbarton to win the league, I can't explain the feeling but it was emotional as I had wanted to win so so much 7 Winning league back to 2 back which felt better Dundee/Morton? Defo Dundee as I played every game except one but for Morton I arrived mid-January so I played a bit part in it but still was great to win it and notch a few more goals 8 What do you think of the group? The group of lads in that dressing room where amazing, we recently had a reunion in Glasgow which Gav Rae was back from Oz for and I'm sure we will have many more as that was best dressing room I have been in . 9 What was it like to work with Jim Duffy? Jim Duffy was brilliant, a great gaffer and a man’s man, he didn't bullshit and told you how it was which there ain't many gaffers like that about any-more, I loved playing under him and I'm not surprised how he has done at Morton with a very small budget in that league 10 How did the boys adjust to current gaffer after bomber left? We just had to get on with it as that's football and managers come and go but usually not when you’re a point clear at top of the league and 20 seconds from being 4 clear, it was tough at first as Paul was told we were not fit so Tam Ritchie the fitness coach gave us a mini pre-season in March but then realised we were fit and stopped running us 11 You and Deefiant hero Higgy now play together at Clyde what's he like to play along with and have exchanged and DFC stories? Higgy is a quality player and we have linked up well so far, we ain't spoke much about our time there other than talking about how good a club it was and how amazing the supporters where 12 Are you still coaching youths at Thistle/Rangers Yeah I was asked to join Rangers and I moved in February after 30 amazing months at Patrick, I'm enjoying youth coaching at the moment but I want to work with 1st team players as that's always something I wanted to do after my career, I hope one day to be a manager so fingers crossed. Also coach 1st team at Clyde as well as still play 13 Any future plans? Just to continue coaching and try and become a manager, maybe Dundee one day ??
  4. I did the following interview for a previous DFC group and have shared on forum Facebook, here it is for anyone else who.has not seen it Q1 You Like Graham Harvey started out at Hibs then moved to Broxburn athletic how did you first hear of Dundee's interest? Had been playing for Brox burn juniors after being released by Hibs after Youth team was scrapped and was noticed by a Dundee Scout. Q2 What was it that made you want to join Dundee? Was really desperate to get back to senior football again and had a couple of offers but Dundee seemed the right move at that time. Q3 32 appearance's and 3 goals, what was the most memorable appearance for you in a Dundee shirt? Obviously didn't make a lot of appearances but scoring in a derby is a great memory, but I scored at Tynecastle against Hearts in 85 I think which was my most memorable goal and game for the club. Q4 Who were you closest with in your time at club? At that time we had a great group of lads a lot of us stayed in digs during the week, had a few good nights out especially Fatty's on a Thursday night! Was particularly close to Graham Harvey as I was his chauffeur, Q5 How did it feel playing for Dundee compared to any other club? Was a good place to play and dens was great but I didn't do it often enough! Q6 Best manager and captain to work with? Best Manager was Archie, learned so much about what was required to make it in the game, had a few captains but Bobby Glennie was a great example and always had time for the younger players. Q7 What was Harvey like as a player? Graham was a fantastic player, great touch ,could hold it up bring others into game and was a brilliant finisher, if he had that extra yard of pace he could have played anywhere, I remember sitting in stand or Pittodrie in a cup tie and he gave Miller and McLeish a torrid night. Q8 during you and his time there were a few apprentice's at the club likes Ralph Brand and others which did you think maybe should got some playing time in first team? A lot of good younger players at that time,Ralph was one Steve Campbell another, difficult to give young players s lot of game time then as manager tended to go with experience . Q9 What did you think of the achievement of team in the deefiant era ? Dundee have done remarkable things in the deefiant era as everyone stuck together and the fans of the club are very passionate about their team, Q10 have you considered going into management/coaching? I have been coaching for many years now having gained my qualifications, worked at various academies lastly at Hearts ,and had a few interviews for senior jobs but for one reason or another it hasn't happened yet,so see what future holds. Q11 Did you ever play against and old teammate and wind him up? Played against former teammates many times,Even played against Duff who was my manager at Falkirk, them he went back playing at Partick. Q12 What do you like about the group Good for everyone to keep informed and have opinions although we all have our own an we should respect other people's as that is what makes football the best.
  5. Source: The Evening Telegraph Preparation is key for Dundee boss Paul Hartley. Rewind to last summer and no stone went unturned in a bid to ensure this season’s return to the top flight was a success. And Paul insists things will be no different this time around as the club look to build on what he sees as a positive start to life at Premiership level. The manager admits discussions are already taking place to put in place his club’s plans for the close season, despite there being 10 games remaining of their current campaign. “Nothing has been firmed-up yet but we are still working away at next season,†said Paul. “As we speak, we are looking at preparation for the campaign — where we are going, what games we are going to get, things like that. There are plenty of possibilities for us.†The Dark Blues are right in the mix to finish in the top six but they have already pencilled in an end-of-season game with Crystal Palace, to honour former Dark Blues keeper Julian Speroni’s 10 years at Selhurst Park. That game looks to be just the start of what will be a busy summer for the club. A pre-season training camp is again in the offing. At least one match against high-profile opposition at Dens Park as well a host of other friendlies, close to home and some potentially much further afield, are also being lined up. Hungary is again a possibility, with Paul pinpointing the week-long camp on the outskirts of Budapest as one of the catalysts to a top-six charge. But there are also a number of other trips under serious consideration. The gaffer added: “We aim to go away again. We are speaking to some people just now about camps and games. Hungary is probably our No 1 choice again but we have other options. We could find ourselves going somewhere else with a few games, so we don’t know yet.†On the effect it had on his ranks ahead of this season, he said: “I think it had a positive impact. A camp where we got the players together and showed them how we work was essential. Getting them gelled as quickly was key for the season looking ahead. That will be no different this summer. “It was the perfect camp for us, probably the best I have been to. The players hit the ground running. Hopefully, we get the same again but without the big turnaround in players.†The Tele understands the Dark Blues hierarchy are in talks with an as-yet-unnamed English Premier League side, with a view to tying them down to a Dens date in late July, early August. The visit of English champions Manchester City was deemed a huge success, with the club looking to replicate that this year. But things will not end there. Dundee fans can almost certainly look forward to a few more trips down south. Games in England, similar to those at Sheffield United and Morecambe in 2014, will also be firmed-up in the coming months. Meanwhile, Dundee’s match with Aberdeen has been switched to Saturday, kick-off 12.15pm. Dons international call-ups at senior and U/21 level has seen it changed from Monday evening at short notice. The match will be shown live on BT Sport.
