  1. The Dark Blues were leading 1 – 0 thanks to a Paul McGowan goal in the 25th minute and were in complete control of the game up until the second half. However, Partick Thistle eventually went on to win the game, and Dundee fans on Social Media such as Twitter and Facebook suggesting it was the managers substitutions which lead the home defeat last weekend. The Dundee boss substituted Shaun Byrne and Paul McGowan for two youngsters Fin Robertson and Josh McPake during the second half against Partick Thistle and came into some criticism from the Dundee faithful. However, the manager spoke of his reasons behind the substitutions: “At the time I thought we were struggling to deal with Kenny Miller getting into space which is why Fin went on.” “Paul McGowan was dead on his feet; his partner had a baby last Tuesday and was poorly. Thankfully, the baby is doing okay now.” “On Saturday morning we found out he was coming to play so it was a minor miracle to get 73 minutes and that performance out of him.” “He was outstanding in the game so I can see why people would question him coming off.” “I got praise for making substitutions at Dunfermline that worked, which is great – I have to take the stick when it comes, too.” Dundee will face Ayr United this Friday night.
  2. Three second half goals had already sealed the win for Steve Clarke’s men before Kenny Miller scored a late consolation for the away side.
  3. An early goal from former Livi Player-Manager Kenny Miller was enough to end relegated Dundee’s run of 10 consecutive defeats.
  4. Hamilton may have went into this match on the back of taking all three-points against St Mirren at the weekend but Dundee would produce a performance that would result in an emphatic 4-0 score line which included a first senior goal for Jesse Curran and a hat-trick for striker Kenny Miller. The game did start off slow but when Dundee found their feet, you knew there would only be one winner at Dens and this team done it in style with a direct, attacking display which our opponents had no answer for. This was Dundee’s first home win in the league since May which also came against Hamilton and their second so far this season, which also came against Hamilton. Dundee sit five-points behind Hamilton in tenth and one behind St Mirren in eleventh, who picked up a point at Easter Road last night with both playing one game more than the Dark Blues. "I talked about it being a must win for us so we knew we needed to put in a performance,” said Kenny Miller who has now scored five goals in three matches. "Since the manager came in, we're seeing a better level of performance, a better work ethic and a better understanding of what he wants. The appetite to work hard for each other, to get forward, to get back and defend, it's the team moving together."
  5. “If we play like that then absolutely,” answered Miller after being questioned if he thought the three-points are coming soon. “That’s the kind of performance we’ve been working for in the last few weeks. It’s the performance that the manager has been demanding in training. “We’re hoping that we’re starting to see the benefits of the work we’ve been putting in in training Monday to Friday. “If we get to those levels every week then I think we’ll start winning a lot more games.” It’s been a tough start to McIntyre’s reign as Dundee boss but Miller revealed that the gaffer has been working on the basics since he took over. You can see by the way we’re playing – we’re 4-4-2, everybody knows their jobs. “There’s a lot of basic stuff getting put in, fundamentals of set-plays, organisation, and the kinds of passes that are going to be available to give us opportunities. “It’s quite simple stuff.”
  6. A statement on Dundee’s website confirmed the appeal had been unsuccessful, saying: “The club has received confirmation this morning that we have been unsuccessful with the appeal for the red card shown to Kenny Miller last Saturday. “We are disappointed with this outcome, which will mean Kenny will miss our next two matches.”
