  1. I am getting a lot of angry emails from people regarding 'New Device Login' emails which they are getting from us. So, I need to explain why these emails are important to you and your account, and why you're getting them even though you are still using the same device. There is a reason, while it may not seem apparent to you. Why we send out these type emails Firstly, these emails are automated from our system and are being sent out for a reason. We do not sit here waiting on you logging in so we can spam you with emails! These emails are important because they let you know if someone else has potentially breached your account and is using it without your permission or your account has been hacked. We put this security procedure in place because your privacy and security matter to us and because a lot of people now store information such as important information (Banking etc) with us. I will not apologise not will I change our position on this security feature. What may seem like a small inconvenience to you could prevent data theft to someone else by notifying them of a possible breach to their account. Why you are getting these emails Our software is pretty accurate, even though it might not seem that way, but even the slightest change to your computer/software/internet will trigger an email alert from us and there is nothing we can do to fix that. This is a list of the possible reason's why you are getting a New Device Login email from us. Private Mode: You have private mode enabled on your browser. Cookie Deletion: You are clearing or automatically (via software) clearing your browser cookies. Browser: You are using a different Browser to view our forum, or your browser has updated itself to a newer version. VPN: You are using a VPN, this will change your location and IP address that is stored with us. IP Address: Your IP address could have changed either by using a VPN or your internet provider has issued you with a new one or you could have moved location from the previous time you logged in with us. Another Device: If you sign into the forum using your desktop, then use another device such as a phone or tablet then this could possibly log you of your session with your Desktop requiring you to resign in. Moved Country: You have either visited a new country or are in another part of the country where you live. Yes, if you login when in Dundee and visit again while in Perth, this will count as a New Device. If you want to see a list of the devices that we have stored for you, then you can go into your account settings and then click on the Recently Used Devices tab on the left hand side. Method you can use to stop getting these emails: Do not enable your Browsers Private Mode when visiting us, Do not clear your Cookies from your Browser (This is a sure way of you getting a New Device email) either manually or with software like CCleaner (Use the software Cookie Whitelist feature for this forum), Add our domain (https://www.thedarkblues.co.uk) to your browser's Cookie Whitelist. This website will explain how this can be done: How to Whitelist your Cookies Do NOT use a VPN when visiting us, if you do, then keep the same settings when you previously signed in, Stay signed into the forum and do not log out each time you leave. Unfortunately, there is nothing much we can do if your Browser Software or OS updates, or you visit a far off exotic distant land like Perth or Egypt, or you use a VPN or are behind a companies firewall or router/network. If you are still getting these emails after applying all the possible suggestions above, please contact us via our Support Tickets or Website Help & Suggestions forum and one of use will do our best to help resolve the issues you are having with this issue. Please don't send us threatening, are you stupid, your software doesn't work, that's not where I live, or will you turn it off for my account emails please. As an extreme measure and you do care about security, just create a rule in your email software to send the New Device Login email into the internet blackhole or something like that. Cheers,
  2. As I mentioned in another post here. We have enabled Device logging to further protect your account and this may cause some issues with our members. If you get a new email from us every time you sign in, then you may need to change a few settings on your device for this to work correctly. Please make sure that you have Cookies enabled on your Devices Browser, our domain added to your Browser whitelist and your device's browser is not clearing Cookies when you close it. If you use tools like CCleaner or WiseCare 365, make sure you add our domain to the programs 'Cookies to Keep' or Whitelisted. If you delete your Cookies and have not Whitelisted us, then you will continue to get these New Device Emails. If you need further help, please use this Topic or Send us a Support Ticket. We apologise in advance, but this is to help keep your account safe when visiting us.
