Curran will be 21 next season and is also out of contract but got a wee feeling that he's going to be given another shot when he comes back. Think next season is too soon for Skelly but think we'll see Quigley and Curran play some sort of role in the first team next season. Curran getting football at East Fife will serve him well for next term. I pretty much agree with that Harry. Curran does seem to have something about him that suggests he's worth another shot (not that he's really had a shot), but I reckon it may, unfortunately, be time up for Dryden, Allan and Colquhoun. Quigley too may feature but I think with the amount of loan time Skelly has had and the impact he seems to have made at Arbroath that he could maybe start to get some time coming off the bench next season, maybe after a short initial loan. 47 minutes ago, Reverend Lovejoy said: I suppose I'd be happy enough with 3 or 4 experienced lads on the bench with the rest being made up of promising kids rather than what see now, with the likes of Mitchell, Kosta, Ross, El Bak, Hateley, Williams and Gomis warming the bench whilst taking a decent chunk of our wage budget. So would I mate. The problem comes when the injures and suspensions bite and we end up with three youngsters starting games and then no one to fill the bench. That said, we're carrying too much so-so in our squad and it's not helping us in terms of budget or impact in the team. As an aside, I notice that Gourlay has been on the bench in recent games (another good prospect). What's the story with Mitchell? Is he injured? (apologies of that's old news I've missed)

With the sort of 11 we've been fielding recently, I wouldn't be in a massive rush to sign anybody in the summer (apart from Ojamaa). Think we should be a bit more patient and be willing to trial guys out to get a bit more value for money. There are hundreds of guys all across Europe who would be desperate to play for the opportunity to play for a top flight Scottish club. We've got a decent team right now that just needs slight tweaking IMO. 2
Cobra Posted 4 March 2017 Author Posted 4 March 2017 Ojamaa has a year to run on his deal at Go Ahead Eagles. They might want to keep him for next season depending on whether they get relegated or not. In an ideal world they'd offer him a free transfer to let him join Dundee permanently.

This is what I don't get, people say that because Bain has only a year left we should get rid of him, however here you are saying we shouldn't after a player in the same situation? Is it because you think we should pay a fee for him?

Would love Ojamaa to be here next season, he offers something totally different and is I think could go on to be a very decent player for us.
Boba Fett Posted 4 March 2017 Posted 4 March 2017 Why the hurry to sign Ojamma on a permanent deal? Hes made a positive start but it's jumping the gun to say he's done enough already to earn a permanent contract with us IMO.
Ivan Drago Posted 4 March 2017 Posted 4 March 2017 I like Ojama but I would worry about the amount of goals a partnership of him and Haber would bring. Both have really great attributes but I can't see either getting 15 a season 1

I don't think anyone would pay that for a 26-year-old whose only played in the lower leagues so he'll probably see out the rest of his contract. Bain is a top class keeper who I'm guessing could earn the club £250k this summer or maybe more. I don't think letting him leave for nothing in a year is an option for a club struggling to live within its means while competing for a top six place.

At least with Ojamaa in the team we have somebody capable of running at defences and creating chances. You might say we can do better than Ojamaa but given we started this season without any creativity I'd worry about the same thing happening next season. 3

Haber has 6 goals from 16 games and that's after we initially struggled to find a partner for him or create many chances. They've both done enough, for me, to suggest that they can each hit double figures next season. 3

I think what they bring to us is exactly what we were needing when we had that terrible patch earlier in the season. Ojamaa never stops running and Haber wins everything in the air and really gives defences something to think about (as well as holding the ball up and bringing others into the game). I think Ojamaa is trying a wee bit too hard to get a goal, when he does, I expect he'll get even better. They may not be Stewart and Hemmings but they are a pretty good and effective alternative. 5
