For me Bains form has shaded and he hasn't continued the stellar rise to the top he was on. I don't think that's a controversial statement and is illustrated by his fall away from the Scotland squad.

That said he's still a fine SPL keeper and PH will do well to bring in a replacement keeper of similar quality. He's saved us numerous points/heavier defeats this season, often with little help from his defence

Bain was at fault for 2nd goal at Perth... can think of other goals he`s been at fault for however i think he`s a very good keeper , prob 3rd best behind Speroni and Rab in my time of following Dundee.
I do question Bain attitude at times tho and i do think he can be replaced to a certain extent as in there are steady keepers out there who could do a job when Bain leaves ... like i think its harder to replace Stewart/Hemmings than it is Bain.

I actually thought he was more at fault for the first than the second on Saturday. Yeh, defence were an utter shambles and the chances should never have materialised in the first place, but if Bain doesn't come off his line for the first, makes it a much harder chance for Paton.

The second was hit with a lot of power and very low, giving Bain next to no reaction time to get down to his left. He was left utterly exposed by the defence, the amount of time and space Alston had to set himself and rifle that shot off was criminal.

That's how I saw it from the view I had behind the goal.

he's got good faith in the bank because of his displays the last two seasons. His current form is poor and I'd suggest his minds elsewhere.

If we were basing our opinion of him on his performances this season alone - many would be calling him out and crying for a replacement.

Nobody had a great game but St Johnstone are nothing special. If we gave our goal some basic protection we would have stayed in the game and possibly nicked a goal ourselves. At 2-0 the game was effectively over.

It wasn't when we played Hearts a few weeks ago!

The only reason they're not as much is because people aren't allowed to say a bad word about them without people such as yourself tearing their opinion to shreds. There was a thread not long ago questioning if Wighton was performing to the standard expected.

I'm not sure if there is anything to be gained in naming names ... eg WW  (well not for me anyway) ... Because then it comes too personal (again, in my opinion)

But I certainly take in the broader point you make Ross'. Even I have been hesitant to criticise, or even praise, too much for that matter, certain players or our mgr.

because, I feel, that sometimes, opinions/comments, which are made in part to encourage further discussion, are instantly dismissed, by some posters (at times)

in an offhand, personal, discourteous, manner. (Maybe just on the edge of being insulting)  But nevertheless, on a personal level, I then feel, it's just no' worth the

bother.

It's not that I am super-sensitive or precious, but it's just the way I feel some days. Others may feel the same. Which means then, it's no worth the bother for them

posting extreme or diverse opinions. because the effect is the exact opposite of what is trying to be achieved...an informative, educational, entertaining, busy forum.

(Apologies for drifting off a wee bit there. Back to topic) I dont want to put all the focus on Bain, but I do think, by his own standards he'd accept, he has made a few

mistakes in the past few weeks, although he's still a class keeper. Wighton has got more to offer, but I also think he has had a quieter time of it....(all of this imo):chaplin:

That was a strange game. Hearts should have been out at sight but then they got that injury which unsettled them, O'Dea rifled in a half-chance and Hearts seemed to collapse.

We've lost every away game where we've conceded first since September 2015 so we were never likely to recover from 2-0 down in Perth.
