I would love to see us get back to the system we had at Motherwell. Harkins linking up brilliantly with Clarkson and Stewart causing lots of problems with McGowan sitting deeper and battling for every ball. We were unplayable at times.

And also against St Mirren, St Johnstone and Killie away but these days it just isn't clicking. We cannot afford to have three players in our team that don't get involved in the defensive side of the game.

You say these days, but it's only since McGowan got injured that it's stopped working. Surely we have to try to get back to a proven successful line-up rather than working on a new system that might not pick up points.

My confidence in us steering clear of a relegation battle is based on the assumption that Hartley is going to start playing the same team and system prior to McGowan picking up his injury. As Clarkson said "we've not become a bad team overnight". We've just been unbalanced of late.

Some utter tripe on here about Harkins. He's not lazy, he was our star man the season we stayed up despite the points deduction - in a 4-4-2. Hartleys pish system is the problem, not Harkins. As far as being soft is concerned he's probably the hardest in the team - well capable of doing boys as he's proved in the past. He's a great player, real ability, and by far the best we've got. If I kept getting hooked by manager that's taken 2 points out of 21 playing a ridiculous formation that even the players don't understand, I'd no be happy either. As McAlister said today time we got back to basics. That includes playing a simple 4-4-2 giving the full backs some protection. BTW if Hartley alienates the only player we have of genuine quality, the club will not be getting a season ticket out of me next season. It's hartley that's lost the plot no Gary.

Heard the same thing straight after the match aswell,Hartley supposedly punched harkins in the puss

Harkins is from Greenock and he's a big lad. I've seen him totally doing boys on the park. If Hartley decided to throw the first punch (if true) Harkins will have royally filled him in. Judging by his face at the end if the game, the likelier outcome. If it comes to a choice, we keep Harkins, simple as.

Where would Harkins play in your starting eleven tomorrow?

Sounds like a decent plan but where does Harkins fit into your 442?

KT, McGowan and Jim Mac have the defensive qualities, energy and passing between them to boss the midfield. I'd push Harkins further up and just ask him to use his creativity behind Clarkson and Stewart.

Apart from Thomson/Davidson that looks like what we tried on Thursday. Who is giving protection or assistance to the full backs?
