Dundee Football Club have this afternoon relieved manager Paul Hartley of his duties.

Paul took charge of the club in February 2014. He took the club to the SPFL Championship title before clinching a top six finish in our first season back in the top flight.

Last season after missing out on the top six on the final day, the club went on to finish 8th in the top division.

The club currently sit 11th in the Premiership table and the Board of Directors feel a change is needed ahead of five vital matches between now and the end of the season.

Managing Director John Nelms is currently addressing the players and staff and the club will release a further update shortly.

John Nelms said, “I want to thank Paul for his time with the club. Unfortunately, the business we are in, sometimes change is necessary to achieve the goals we have set. I think somebody in the near future is going to get a good hard working manager.”

PH got himself in a mess , never knew his preffered system , played players out position , done awful buisness in the summer ... he was doomed

His biggest un doing was that he try to be too clever and its cost him his job and prob our top flight status

I wanted to see him succeed and crave stability but it became painfully obvious pretty f***** quickly he didnt have a clue. Hemmings and Stewart got him through last year but after that the game was up. He might learn from this and hope he goes on to be successful but this should have happened after 7 to the sheep! Unforgivable that one!

Tae be fair, this has been building and building. The League Cup displays at the start o, the season, papped oot the Scottish by a lower division at home, the sixes and sevens runs being beaten, the doing by Aberdeen at home.Tae be honest, the football on show this season has been 90% abysmal and there has been no sense of acheiving  an effective way of playing. Factor in the playing round pegs in square holes it really does seem tae hae been inevitable.Only time will tell if this decision has come too late.
