As usual in football the Manager pays the ultimate price for bad results, in our case it was justifiable.

It has to be said though, Vincent, Williams, Ross, Hately, Holt, Gahdz, Julen and a few others should have a hard look in the mirror.

Their pitiful efforts have in no small way contributed to the situation the club finds itself in.

As we approach the season end we will find out if they really are as bad as they seem or will they benefit from a new boss and more sensible formations.

Interesting times ahead.

Although I agree that Hartley had to go do you not think we will just bring in somebody else who will get a wee bit of leeway and we might have a few good games and then we will be back to the same again where we all sit and complain about how bad it is to watch blah blah blah. We will fail in the cups again as we always do and there will be the never ending wingefest like we deserve to be one of the top teams because of our huge home crowds of about 5000.

You're probably right mate. I don't think the talk of massive playing budgets and unreserved backing did PH any favours. In reality I don't think PH had as good a hand as some have claimed and it remains to be seen whether our new man will work as hard to make whatever budget he is given work any better. I think that PH maybe spread himself and his budget too thin.

I don't think PH ever allowed any of his signings to play in the position that, by their experience, they were best equipped to play. I think that was why the ICT signings were such a disappointment. They didn't get to play in the positions that they played at ICT, nor did they play in a team system that they recognised. That's probably a gross exaggeration but it's the root of all PH's troubles IMO. He thought that good footballers would be able to play in any position because they had the skill set. It doesn't work like that because tactical awareness and the ability to read the game is something that comes from consistently performing the same functions for the team week in week out.

He won't make that mistake again. Next time he'll pick players who will play specific roles and he won't hope that he can coach any footballer with decent basic skills, to play in any number of positions. I hope he does learn that all the consistent criticism about square pegs etc was not just some stick to beat him with; there was a large element of truth behind it. Unfortunately it didn't start to make sense to him until long after he had made his decisions in the summer of 2016. Haber's recruitment was really fortunate in that he filled the "target" gap that was left by the departure of Hemmings, but to let Loy go seemed to be counter intuitive..

We'll have to hope that the players respond to playing in positions that they were accustomed to, and they relearn the skills that atrtacted PH to recruit them in the first place. I don't think it's going to be easy at all
