Is mccann being lined o to takeover in the summer as well if all goes well, can this be seen as a trial period for him also, would make sense if the board has previously looked at him to take over before hartley, amd during the interview when asked the queation he looked over at nelma before answering like he needed reassurance on how to answer that question

whats everyones thoughts? Not on his ability even though im sure he will do well, just if people think he ia likely to be kept on

Focus needs to be only on the next five games... if he turns this runaway train around and the team put in some winning performances, I think it's only reasonable to assume he'll be in a strong position to make his appointment permanent.

Having said that; re-energising a squad to trya and win a few matches is a completely different challenge to permanent management. There are vastly different challenges and a great deal more aspects to manage effectively as a permanent manager in charge from day one of a season..

I'm only looking short term just now. C'mon Terry.

He'd deserve the offer of a contract but there are areas of being a manager that he will have not handled before and so I'd hope that this would be something that will be discussed. I don't think the special nature of the next 5 games is a full test of his managerial skills. Having said that if we stay up then it would be unreasonable not to consider him as a potential manager for next season.

I think the most important thing about management is deciding how you want your team to play and then signing players to fit the system. Until he was allowed to do this we have no idea how he'd get on.

However experienced managers make mistakes in recruitment too. If it was between terry and Locke, yogi, bomber or Presley then I'd go for terry.

If we had a chance to get neil or Ross I'd go for one of them.

Without knowing what kind of salary Sky pays, or what salary DFC would offer, probably the money might be the biggest consideration for him.

But I cannot even conceive him walking away from the DFC's Manager's job, if his spell up to that point proves successful. And he is offered it.

If the short term manager had been someone like an auld experienced hand, wi  old fashioned ideas, but knew how to kick erses & motivate :lol2:

It would have been a case of "Thanks, job done, & here's an extra bonus, before you go" Neil's here (imo) as definitely long term proposition :)

Seeing him. Listening to him. Reading what he said. I just cannae see him walking away it it works. Meanwhile first things first C'mon the Dee:wub:

He'll keep us up and go back to Sky to make more money in a more relaxed job whilst not getting chased by some space cadets.

Can't fault your logic and I think you might be right. He maybe fancies dipping his toe in management to see if he could 'cut it' and go back to Sky. He might fancy it as a change or his CV or whatever, its a thankless task after all but there are those who want to do it. Assuming he has a good run in the next 5 games I'll be curious what path he follows, I doubt money is a motivator, he played when there was still money in the Scottish game so unless he's been a silly boy he should be sorted. Ego will maybe a bigger factor (not a dig, I mean in a 'sense of self' way)

Money is important to mcCann - he has kids at private school in Edinburgh. Not cheap.

I would think he is probably already fairly well set.

He would have made decent money during his careeer and doesn't seem the type to p*ss it up the wall.

Also if he does well here in the short term then the long term who knows where that might lead.
