I thought he was sat very narrow for a RB at times but I don't want to be picky, overall he had a OK game, as did everyone, maybe a case of NM getting them in 'the zone', whatever works. This season I have been a bit underwhelmed by Hateley, especially as we spent a bit of time chasing him. He's been 'meh' for me but I'm open to having my words thrown back at me, I'd be delighted in fact. One game at a time but if he's going to be a better RB than CM I'll be happy, its not like we're short of CM's especially if Ross is back in the good books.

His starting position was quite narrow however I thought that as soon as the wide player received the ball hartley was right on top of him and definitely had the better of the exchanges with him.

Cammy still has the shirt imo by virtue of his performances this season however it's comforting to know that hateley can do a job there should cammy be absent or pushed forward to rm.

I thought he was much better yesterday and yet his performance in the first McDairmid debacle of the season at RB was woeful.

He's done OK at times this season and was better than that yesterday but I'm not really a huge fan.

He'll be one of our higher earners I'd imagine so hasn't really justified his signing however yesterday I felt he earned them.

I suspect you're right, I didn't want to add my concerns about his wage V return on the pitch because basically its speculation. I speculate though that he will be one of our bigger earners considering that we seemed keen to land him, I assumed as a RB but it seems not. I'm open minded though, not all players hit the ground running, just look at the tomato thief, he was responsible for Third World debt, the Cuban missile crisis and the head of the Illuminati. Now, man of the match, his rehabilitation is complete.....until he has an off game anyway.

Pretty much every other fan I know jumped on the news of his signing to tell me we'd done a great piece of business. I think there's certainly a footballer in him so we'll hopefully start to see it more regularly

Agree. He wanted to move out of right back and play in the midfield. Perhaps full backs need to be really quick nowadays and he knew he had lost a yard or two. It didn't work out for him, and Hartley tried to play him as a midfielder, probably part of the attraction to get him to sign for us. It didn't work out because of the personel we had in midfield. Bet he and Hartley were both gutted that he didn't make the impact we all expected.

playing him in a position he knows is just what everyone had been saying for months. New manager, new thinking and perhaps Hately will fit in and deliver what we hoped for as a solid professional.
