For his sake, I hope he went away on holiday. It sounds like he's never actually been away from things since he took over at Alloa and this job was probably really stressful for him.

I think pretty much every second tier club (I've even heard that view expressed by United fans!) would consider him and don't think he'll have to wait too long for another job (if he wants one).

Harry in a reference to PH in a post I made a couple of days ago, I said more or less the same thing. Making the point that there is no reason at all, for any of us now to have a go at him (imo)l Or for PH to expect any criticism for us. Mistakes he might have made in the past should be put to bed. The impression he gave was, he gave his all, even if it left some of us (& players) puzzled at times. His work ehic was never in question, But now he looked physically, emotionally, mentally exhausted. ... To quote fae meh ain post "The Puir Man now needs a Holiday"

I would have never expected Duffy to make a comeback but many years later and he's regarded as a good manager and in contention for top flight teams again. He wrote a column (linked) about Hartley's sacking and reflected on his own past and it does seem they have many similarities in aspects of their character.

Excellent stuff from JD and you can see how managers succumb to the pressure, Hartley's head would have been scrambled.

The players on Saturday seemed to be playing with a lot more freedom. It was like a weight had been lifted off them too. We weren't great, just back to being average! Long may it continue.

If we carry on just being average and not absolute shiite then it will be enough to stay up

PH had a difficult job in replacing our deadly duo, although he knew it was going to happen and he was a bit slow in identifying replacements.

Some signings also let him down and found it difficult either due to tactics or played out of position.

Football is a Nasty business at times and most managers are under few illusions about the nature of the job.

Anyway good luck to him.

Some very interesting posts in this topic (And thanks for the relevant link Harry) ....

I don't think anyone of us would compare ourselves withh PH, but anyone who at times, believes in the benefit of a hard work ethic, maybe a bit at times, over- ocused (bordering on obsessiveness) & can be a bit' a pain, wi' striving for perfection can well understand the points made by JD in relation to PH (& maybe themselves) In theory it all sounds too easy to know about getting the balance right, inpractice of course, this is not always the case. Good luck to both managers ... And in fact anyone else who at times finds themselves going ...
