The one thing that concerns me is that his shot to goal ratio with Hemmings, Harkins and Stewart was actually really poor and one of the worst in the league for a comparable forward.

The worry would be that he could be a decent player in some capacity but it could be that we have a window of opportunity to replace his wages with someone more effective and maybe higher stature that we pass up if we try to integrate him.

I'm still optimistic on Loy as well.

I'm not.. don't think he'll deliver at Prem level. He turns 30 next season, his best years are already behind him and he's never done the business in the premier league.

Obviously I'd love it if he made me eat my words but I think we need better and if I was Dundee manager he'd not be in my plans.

When Rory was playing for Falkirk I thought that he would be a great acquisition for Dundee and was delighted when he was signed and even more so when he got a double on his debut against Killie. I still think he could do well for us but whether the new manager would think so remains to be seen.

I've always had the impression Loy's a bit in the 'poacher' category, and thrives on playing in a team that's dominating the game & getting the ball to the byline & a lot of crosses/cross-shots.

Playing for Falkirk, at the top end of the Championship, was presumably his best scoring spell. Playing for a bottom 6 Premiership side, he's going to spend a lot more time outside the penalty box. Especially if he's deployed as a 'winger'!

St.Mirren's 'revival' has appeared to bring him back to life. I could see them wanting to sign him.

Had high hopes when he signed but he's had a year and a half here with plenty opportunities and just hasn't looked good enough. To improve we need to get in a better quality striker. Maybe Loy could suddenly improve to this level but I can't see it. I'd much rather we looked for someone with more potential.

Bottom line is we will need to release players to get others in. Loy will be an easy wage to free up as other teams will be happy to sign him.
