Paul Hartley didn't know what to do, Neil got a bounce but that's a disgrace tonight, like I said thank god we are safe but it's the players, not good enough mentally or in ability, hope we make big changes this summer

It seems like year after year we make wholesale changes to the squad, and we only have to look at this year to see that it never always works out.

I just hope who ever the manager is, that they bring in players to balance the squad, are played in their right positions and we also bring in some midfielders that can dominate games against other teams.

I felt Hartley's comments after the Hamilton game were almost a plea to be sacked. He was a top class international player and who didn't want to work with these guys anymore. I might be totally wrong but that's how I felt watching his last interview.

McCann is Mr Positive so it will be very interesting to see if he eviscerates the sleepwalkers or tries to protect them. If he's offski it doesn't matter so much but if he's staying he's got a big test in the coming days.

Will he get the funds for his own and will the BOD pay the slackers off? PH legacy might continue for a while yet but think McCann is right for us

Quite a few players contracts are up at the end of the season, and I suspect that the BOD might sanction the new manager tearing up some contracts if the manager can bring in better players.

That team needs 4 strong signings in the summer plus probably a keeper, or we are doomed to another relegation battle next season. Lightweight and easily bullied all over the park.

Dundee will never be a top six team unless we get more consistency e.g. St Johnstone.

Same old, 2 good away wins then fail to win at Dens when the support turns out.

If they want to achieve their stated aims then they have no option.

The season and half the squad are a write-off.

For what my option is worth, I think you are  correct . Half of our squad are a write-off and a very expensive one.

Sitting in the Bobby Cox tonight when the subs came along doing their leg stretches etc ,here was Danny Williams (he is not the only one , just an example, so not picking on him)

Just a little test for some of you out there (Cobra comes to mind :)) how many minutes has he actually played this season. As I have said on here before  (from one of his best mates and a fellow pro) he is on £1,300 a week (unfortunately for three years) . My question is, how much has he been paid per minute for the time he has been on the pitch. I have no idea what Nicky Low  is paid per week so his his per minute rate could also be interesting.

The Americans are business people and will want a return on their investments, not just our club but the players THEY have invested in. I am not talking about the odd one or two that have been sold but the players who they hope will pull on the jersey every week. Personally I think they have been short changed by some of PH's signings .

We will still have the PH effect/signings for a year or two yet which will not help our BOD's stated aims going forward.  Unfortunately our board will have to dig deep to move us forward

NM in his post match BBC radio interview was very "contained" I thought, in his summary on the game ...

He continually used the words very disappointed & disappointed, and I felt this was a reflection of his comments to his players, although I don't remember him specifically picking out players to praise, or crticise. He's bound to feel disillusioned after the game. Whether it's enough to put him off the idea of management (assuming he get's offered the job) only time will tell. I doubt it would.

And on a personal level, I think he is the man to do a fine job of manager for DFC.

He comes over, not only as a pleasant, presentable person, but as well as being articulate, intelligent, knowledgeable, he is also known tho have a tough, steely attitude, (according to to the comments of other professionals who know him better) .... If this is the case, I guess both him & the players , learned quite a lot from yesterday's game. Interesting to see now, how they perform against Hamilton.

And just as interesting will be the close season., as no doubt there will be some big changes being made whoever has the managerial reigns. Looking forward to how the BOD & manager tackle this within the confines of a limited/restraining financial budget.

A win last night & a good DFC performance would have been ideal. But we are still in the Premiership. And for that, I am more than "jist happy".  Let's see what reaction we get from NM & players, that might tell Neil McCann (& us) a great deal.

The idea that 'just being in the Premiership is good enough' is not good enough imo.  That thinking, taken forward to next season, will have us in the bottom two very early.

I said last week that one of the disappointing things this season for me has been the rank inconsistency of a lot of our squad - the apparent inability of these professionals to string two or three decent, consistent performances together.  Add to this that some players are half decent at some aspects of their game and imo we let this mask the inability of some of them to get even the basics right.  We need someone who is going to be brutal in his assessment of these players and get rid if possible.  This is not a time for sentimentality with this squad and to hang on to players who 'give their all' or 'there's definitely a player in there'.  Who ever the manager is, if he can find better players who will make the team and squad better, on you go.  If that is possible in financial terms.

Some folks might counter by saying that inconsistency and half decent is all we can get at Dens - it's 'where we are'.  I don't believe that for a minute.  I don't follow many teams in the land apart from DFC but there must be better midfielders in the UK than James Vincent who would play for us.  Someone who can contribute a lot more than 'good at closing a man down'.  I'm very happy that others saw the same things that I was watching last night as that performance was inexcusable imo and what happens on Saturday and in the close season will be a wee test for NM, if he is still here.
