Saw him up close today playing for Aberdeen v Doncaster in St Andrews.

Whilst Aberdeen looked very sharp, especially Tansey - McLean - Christie, Greg looked way off the pace and very unfit. Carrying a good few extra pounds too.

I really hope he can regain his form and resurrect his career but today he looked a shadow of the lad that lit up Dens week in week out.

Aberdeen fans I was speaking to yesterday excited with his signing and delighted with his scoring performance in midweek.

I can see McInnes dropping him and his confidence going through the floor.

While he gave us plenty great moments he doesn't deliver the consistency needed for a top three team.

Stewart was great in the 4-0 win over Hamilton in December 2015 but what did he do in the eight-game winless run before that that effectively cost us our top six place? Not a lot. At Aberdeen he would have been dropped but at Dundee we had little option but to play him week in week out in the hope he'd hit form.

My Aberdeen supporting pal was less than impressed with him, claiming he was a big fatty like me (that's like me not like my pal).

I was able to see for myself today that whilst GS is carrying extra pounds he's not in my league in that regard.

I did assure my pal that GS will win games on his own and I still hope he does (but he has work to do after seeing him today), he is a real talent and a joy to watch when turning it on.
