I thought this was quite interesting.

With Peaso away, CW on loan and GGH on the bench we're very reliant on the front two for goals. McGowan, Thomson, Ferry and McAlister have one between them which is a poor return from midfield and Harris' deflected effort at the weekend was his first ever league goal so I don't think we expect him to score too many.

I think Jim is maybe the most under-appreciated player in the team.

He started and finished the 12 games before Saturday. Hartley only subbed him against Motherwell when the game was as good as won. I think that tells you how much the manager values him.

He is our engine in the team.

People thinks he just runs about.

I'm a fan, he's a workhorse and teams need guys like this. My most frustrating line about him is the "runs about like a headless chicken", Horlicks ! I'm no expert but when he does go on a run, watch the other players get into position, it doesn't always come off but that could be said for any player, but his 'cross pitch' runs buy time for other players to get into better attacking positions, coupled with his constant running and tracking back, he's not a sexy player but I agree with you DD, he's an 'engine' in the midfield. Hugely underrated for me.
