Cobra Posted 31 August 2017 Report Share Posted 31 August 2017 I'm quite relaxed about the window shutting and nothing more happening. We've got a very decent side and players to come back from injury. If we carry on being competitive every week and creating chances we will climb the table.
blueboy Posted 31 August 2017 Report Share Posted 31 August 2017 I know a few are injured but surely we are well covered in defence now. We just need some numpty up front to stand in the box and stick the ball in the net.
Sebastiano Nela Posted 31 August 2017 Report Share Posted 31 August 2017 Squad is getting quite large now. Would prefer to see 2 or 3 out and absolutely at least 1 striker in. Quite liking the way the club is now supplementing the playing side of things with promising youth players from a higher level
Reverend Lovejoy Posted 31 August 2017 Report Share Posted 31 August 2017 I notice on Twitter that someone still thinks we have a striker training with us. A guy (no name) from OYS (Kamara & Deacon's agents) was mentioned as being at Dens at the end of last week/the start of this week.

If NM can't get what he wants then why spunk cash for the sake of it to appease us monkey's. Lets see what happens and cheer/gnash teeth accordingly. I'm not working myself up. I'm just giving my opinion based on facts that we are currently extremely short up front and could be for at another month or two yet plus I'm not overly sure that strikers we have at the club are prolific enough even when they do start becoming available again. It could go down as one of the most frustrating seasons going when we have class acts such as Allan and Bain and other very exciting players in Kamara & Deacon but could end up going down because there's no goals in the team and 3 quarters of the strike force were injured for the first 2 to 3 months and we failed to bring anyone in to cover it. You could go to one extreme and I could go to the other and get two totally different opinions but based on the same information.

I wouldnt be cobra - unless Moussa is up to it then i cant see nothing more than a season off relegation bound. 1 point in 12 0 goals from a striker as things stand.

Look at the bigger picture though mate. We've created enough chances to win games comfortably. We should have more points on the board and more goals that's certain and it is a worry but not the end of the world. If we had 1 point at this stage and hadn't created anything then I'd be worried. We cant and wont keep missing sitters with the players we've got.

I don't remember having so many of that squad. The forward options are maybe a tad too young though but if we get someone of the profile of this Burnley boy, we can hopefully be in a situation where we call on the youth players a few times this season. Hopefully, we can run with a smaller but more refined squad next season and rely on those guys for depth. I think it's been really awkward for McCann as there's been a lot of dead wood and I get the impression that pretty much the whole team signed up here with 3 or 4 exceptions don't really fit his style of footballer and/or personality. The shackles will hopefully be lifted next summer.
harry94 Posted 31 August 2017 Report Share Posted 31 August 2017 So it seems the pursuit of this forward is over but it does tell us that we have indeed been working on things behind the scenes. Hopefully, we get another forward from an elite team.
