Scott Allan's Performance So Far.

Recommended Posts

When he signed I was declaring that he would be the best midfielder outside the old firm etc. I'll be honest I feel a little silly now looking back. His performances have not been anywhere near the hype that came with his signing (by me mostly)

However, I still believe that he will come good and we need to be a little more patient with him. I also think he is being wasted on the left. The lad should be played in an advanced role in the centre.

He can do some great things with the ball and beat a couple of players with ease but his basic passing has been a bit suspect and I find this very frustrating. It seems that he can't just pass the ball normally and it has to be a fancy pass, no matter what.

To me his fitness doesn't look up to scratch and he seems to still be lacking match sharpness. I think we will see a difference in a month or two and he will be the player we all expect him to be :)

Opinions?

Fantastic player who needs better strikers infront of him and a more solid pairing behind him.

His close control and eye for a pass are superb.

At times he tries to do too much though.. If he played a first time / quicker ball, he'd be even more effective.

Fairly certain Mr McCann will be telling him this and he'll do very well for us this season. He already is IMO.

Great to have him at Dens.

We were hoping for the new Greg Stewart and we got another Gary Harkins

A good player that will flatter to decieve, another player that has the ability but maybe not the will or he would be playing at a level above us

He will win us points with something special but will frustrate us in most games

This in a nutshell sums him up for me from what I have seen so far. Said exactly the same to my old man

the other day re the new harkins. Can't ever see him getting into a Celtic team with Rodgers there. He's a guy with all tha ability in the world and just doesn't know how to use it, it would appear. Granted with better options and movement onfront of him he would have more targets but Christ, get the basics right first.

His body language suggests to me he is enjoying himself at Dundee. He has lots of quality but it just hasn't quite clicked yet i think. Very high hopes for him and for Dundee with kamara a huge signing from what i've seen. Exciting times. Is that too positive? I've had a few sherbets....

Nailed it.

So far he's had the gamble signing Moussa in front of him. The unprolific Haber. The unprolific El Bak and finally the small midfielder Paul McGowan playing in front of him.

He would get so much more end product with a class act up front such as Stokes or Moult.

Oh to have a quality player like this up top :( We are severely lacking in that department.

Fantastic talent, great close control with an eye for the hardest pass available most of the time, which I like that he tries tbh, shows he's got vision and likes to entertain.. we've had a lot of 'keep it simple' midfielders over the years not taking risks..

However if he could play the simple pass sometimes that would be good ? Over complicates things a bit too much at times, but yes it's so frustrating that there isn't better options in front of him.. its like no one else is on his wavelength sometimes. There's been a few times he's played a great reverse ball in behind or down the channel and no one has picked up on it and taken the gamble to get tae it.. would be good to get that striker in to make those runs.

Hemmings would have been ideal for him.  Still think he'll be superb for us as the season goes on and would like to see him central as boba says, think he's wasted on the left personally.
