What with the pi ssy pants the DABS have over one of theirs going to Celtic rather than lower league England, it raises the question of what is actually showing more ambition?

Sign for a middle of the table Championship club for example and the chances are that is you forever. No promotion, no silverware.

Sign for Celtic, the truth is you're likely to win a lot of silver, be in the Champions league almost every year etc.

Would you rather be winning silver or lounging about the Championship with no success?

I would go to Accrington Stanley before Celtic..

Seriously though, if you want to test yourself and see how much better you can become, you need to play against the best level of opponent every week.

More chance of that down south at the moment unfortunately.

I think I go along with Joe's response above more or less ..... it depends a lot on on the individual.

His own assesment of his own ability, his ambition and his personality, I guess would all come into it.

The age factor would be an issue, assuming we are talking of a young player, the combination of possibly playing with the best and the attraction of maybe a more varied an active social life would be an added appeal.

A number of Scottish footballers think they are better than they are and they get "found out" when they sign for an English club even in the lower leagues. A couple of years later they are back in Scotland looking for a club.
