McGowan picked up a one game suspension when he went over the booking tally in the recent Dundee derby so will miss out on the trip to Pittodrie.

On the injury front, Kyle Letheren still hasn’t returned to training, there is hope he will do some light work this Friday but he’ll miss out on the Aberdeen match. Gary Irvine and James McPake have suffered rib injuries, while Kevin McBride (thigh), Simon Ferry (ankle), and Jim McAlister (groin) are also doubtful.

Another doubt is David Clarkson who has been described as touch and go by the manager. He picked a ankle knock in training earlier this week and hasn’t trained since.

If none of them make it that leaves us with a squad of:

Bain

Schenk

McGinn

Dyer

Godzilla

Davo

Konrad

Harkins

Thomson

Carreiro

Luka

Stewart

Harris

Plus black, Allan, skelly and Cameron perhaps

Just come here to say that. Sigh, looks like our idea of finally getting a consistent team together is over. With who is definitely available, I'd go:

Bain

McGinn Godzilla Konrad Dyer

Harris Davo Thomson Stewart

Tank Harkins

Not ideal but it does the least change. Davo, Konrad and Godzilla can all play in holding midfield (apparently) so don't know what one he'd pick there. Davo has the most experience there so my instinct is that he'd play there (which I'd prefer since Konrad would go back into defence) but maybe Hartley will want to keep that settled and not change the back 2 right now.

Enjoyed Stewart last week playing up front and I'd be disappointed to play him in a different position but I can't see him playing anywhere else if Harkins is involved.

Think that 11 is probably what he'd play if all missed out but there are different ways to deploy them I suppose. Would prefer the least amount of change anyway.

Still though, this is meant to be a really weak side but they are all capable enough and if they can work hard for each other and do the basics right, we can get a result. Harkins always has a good game up there.

With the Celtic money you'd think we could afford to offer Wilson a short-term deal (if it is true that he's training with us). Pawlett v Dyer could be as painful to watch as the derby.

This is getting beyond a joke... What the frickin hell is Hartley doing with them in training?

Surely this run of injuries for the entire season can't just be a coincidence! December and Januray are always the months where you learn about the strength and depth of your squad. Our's has been down to the bare bones for months now!

I'd swap Harkins with Stewart Harry.

Wouldn't feel comfortable with Harkins having to cover for a full back and with Logan and Pawlett on that side, we'll need someone there with a higher defensive work rate. In the middle, he gets a bit more freedom and he gets to make things happen when he's not been relied upon to do dirtier tasks.

I'd prefer us to swap them round though and try out periods with Stewart through the middle for periods where we've got a bit of the ball but that might not happen too often.

Big match for Dyer coming in so hopefully we get a game out of him.

I am no' sae hot on the forecasting front, especialLy when it comes to oor team ......D.F.C,

How many times have I seen our strongest team go in against the poorest oppostion, when in theory it should have been a mere formality to crush them, yet come away again defeated.

And of course other games against the best, when we have been at our weakest, but raised ourselves for the occasion, and come away with a glorious victory.

Maybe Saturday could jist be one o' these days ...........If we go into the game with a winning attitude, well ...........

Hope so Gedee.. Whoever's starting will need to be right up for it and in exactly the right frame of mind.. Honestly, in all your years of following the Dee, can you remember a season like this for injuries?

Wilson is a right back mate.
