He seems to be adapting to Neil McCann's style. In the paper a few weeks ago, he was saying that the concept of hitting players one on one wasn't really something he'd done before and the game in Holland was more focused on nice build up rather than individual play. He seemed much more willing to do that and less scared to make a mistake when he come on.

I think he'll be quite a solid player for us. I reckon he's a pretty good character and intelligent enough guy to adapt.

Was really impressed when he came on. This was his chance to kick start his season and he took it. Possibly he is actually better suited to playing on the right hand side where he can cut in?

Thought his pace and running were great but he let himself down after he'd cut inside, hesitant on a good few occasions. Still, enough there to say he should be a useful player over the season.

On Sat when he came on he looked loke a player who could add something to the team. His fresh air shot aside, which can happen to anyone, I thought he looked a threat.

Oh, but what a fresh air kick it was!

Have to say I agree with this.

That said, it was the best he's been and his attitude is spot on. I worried when Deacon went off that we'd become very one sided for the rest of the game, but to his credit Wolters was involved in a lot of positive play. Delighted for the lad and hope he can (not fresh air) kick on from there.

Supposedly his former manager/coach said he's no use on the left wing when he joined Dundee and he was most effective coming in off the right, or the 'Greg Stewart role' if you will, will try to find the source but can't promise anything :lol2:

The cracker of a goal Wolters scored in the U-20's win over Aberdeen, moving inside from the right wing, was similar to one of Stewart's trademarks, though Wolters' was a rocket directly in between keeper & near post, compared to Stewart's curved ball inside the far post.

He runs with the ball on his left, and on Saturday looked like he'd always prefer to stop & make the cross with his left, rather than go past the full-back & cross with his right. His right might still be good enough for a decent cross ball though, as was Stewart's.

There was one move, when we were 2-0 up & well on top, where he tried to play a quick one-two with Cammy, who was making the start of an overlapping run, Wolters shouted for the return & pointed to where he wanted the ball (to get him through between the 2 defenders), but Cammy tried a cross instead. Could have been a goalscoring chance, but I wondered how Wolters would have played it next, as the ball would have been on his right.

I thought Wolters looked far happier playing in Saturday's formation than in any of his previous appearances, he was always looking for the ball & looking to either take it past a defender or find a pass inside, or the overlap move. His crosses are usually driven & not too high, and if Moussa/AJ can get on the end of them, might result in more powerful headers back across the keeper. With both Deacon & AJ off the scoring mark, it would be good to see Wolters belt one home soon, it's going to increase his confidence.

One complication, though, is that it might not be easy for NM to find a place for both Deacon & Wolters (unless he starts on the left in some games), and they may need to settle for alternating spells in the starting XI/bench & a sub for each other.
