Gunman In Shotting Spree In the Usa

Recommended Posts

It seems another gunman has gone on the loose and shot 5 people killing 3 people.

I dread to think how man people in the last few years have been killed by people in the USA and yet, you still have the gun tooting crazies believing that a 300 year still has a purpose on what is happening in the world today.

All you hear about in the USA is how terrorist coming to their country killing them, when in fact more Americans are killed by Americans.

I wonder when the USA will wake up to this and at least make it hard for people to get a gun (I'm talking about semi automatics etc) in the first place.

I'm sure we will hear that it is peoples rights to be able to carry a a gun, but surely a peoples rights not to be shot by these mad people comes first?

I read the other week that in the last few years it has been between 13,000 and 15,000 folk die each year in the US as a result of gun related crime.  On holiday in Florida last week, we were in a bar one night and the news headlines on the TV, from a local station, was three stories of a 3 people being shot dead locally in 3 separate incidents.  Anyone who has been to Wal-Mart would be only too aware how easy it is to pick up a rifle off the shelf or a big fuck off knife that Crocodile Dundee would be proud of.  I always find the US a home from home in manys ways but also a bizarre place at the same time.

I think more people in the US are coming out in support of tighter gun control but it's never going to happen because of the commercial interests of many people at high level in the country and what others would see as an attack on their (2nd Amendment) rights.

One of my friends in the USA says it might take a president with a big set of balls to sign an executive order to bring in stricter laws on the sale of guns and weapons in the USA, but she thinks that he might not live to see it pass lol

I find it strange that the people of the USA soon started to turn against the idea of US troops being in Iraq and Afghanistan because of the amount of casualties and American servicemen killed as a result.  Yet over the total period of the Iraq war (Operation Enduring Freedom I believe it was called) for the USA was 6.828 killed and that was from 2001 to 2015. Yet far more die each year and still nothing seems to be done about it.

Another stat I read is that since the USA came into being, more Americans have been killed on home soil as a result of gun crime than members of their armed forces have been killed abroad in conflicts/wars etc and the numbers aren't even close.  Tried to find links to where I saw all these stats but failing miserably.

And yet, you try telling that to an American who feels it is their right to carry a gun... and a really really big fuck off knife!

Just mind bending and staggering!

Years ago, we were in California and went on a wine tasting trip to the Sonoma Valley.  Very nice it was too - we 'tasted' a lot of different wines and even some Taittinger champagne (sparkling wine because only the French can call the stuff Champagne).  We visited a place that was making brandy but at the end of that tour they were not permitted under law to give anyone a free tasting of the stuff as it was 'hard liquor'.  20 years later, I still find that crazy.  A country where you can probably buy an AK-47 off the shelf in your local supermarket, just a couple of aisles away from your Cheerios and they are not allowed under law to give you a free thimbleful of 'hard liquor'

Allowed to die for your country at 17 but can't drink until 21.

American Navy still board British ships to drink seeing as a countries laws are upheld on their ships.
