Not even stripped and out at half time conducting the 50/50 draw!

He should be embarrassed with that. Punishment exercise from PH I wonder? His last opportunity at a decent sized club is passing him by me thinks..

Punishment for what mate?

I know i havent been very complimentary towards him this season as apart from half a match against Celtic and maybe at Partick he has looked out of his depth or un-interested. But maybe the guy is just not up to the standard? Very easy for us to sit here and make comment about his attitude etc but does anyone actually know if this is the reason that he isnt getting game time? Not defending the boy but I think a lot of guys forget he is only 20.

You don't find it strange that a first team squad player is out on the pitch pulling out numbers for the half time draw?

He should be in the dressing room with the team getting involved with the game, on the park warming up with the subbies or preferably listening to his managers half time team talk having just played 45 minutes of football for us.

If that was me, there would be no way that I would be drawing half time numbers instead of being involved with the team in some way.

I would'nt imagine that most pro footballers would be chuffed with being in that situation so it may well be that he has been told he's doing it.. Think of it as character building I suppose!

Regards him being only twenty... I have seen Phil Roberts play one decent half of football for us this season (Celtic at home) and every report I have read or heard detailing his efforts in the under 20's suggests he has done nothing.

Just wondering if PH's methods of trying to improve him are working and if he was drawing 50/50 numbes through choice... I would say probably no to both.

@@dblair - I voted your post down with a tangy dislike in error mate (trying to press the quote button on my IPhone) apologies..

Totally agree with everything you are saying there mate, just think that like I said its easy for us to come to assumtptions based on his previous. Having said that, unless Hartley is thinking long term for him then I cant see him staying around much longer. Its strange (unless he is injured) that he isnt involved given that he can play on the left.  Although he is never getting near a start with Stewart there just now. I was going to suggest a loan deal, but not sure what that would do for his confidence or attitude? Maybe just have to give it time and see what happens.

On another note, does anyone know what the situation is with McBride???? It was always going to be the case that we had far too many center mids in the squad (when all fit) but not heard anything about him recently. Get the feeling he will be sitting tight seeing out his contract. Always thought he was decent for us and never deserved the stick he got.

Roberts never made the squad last night so he wouldn't be out warming up.

You have to sit in the stands if you aren't a subbie.

He prob just drew it since we had no big name ex player there to do it.

Not quite true, there, Derry. I've seen players who are nearing fitness again out warming up before a game. McGowan at Hamilton for one.
