I don't really see this mate. I think you might have a point with both Celtic and Rangers plundering Aberdeen's team at the end of last season as they were the nearest thing to a challenge to Celtic and the team most likely to stop Rangers getting into Europe. However, what real benefit is there for Celtic to come and take the best player from a team that haven't beat them in a couple of decades or so? It's not like they need us weaker and in reality you could argue it helps them to have the rest of the league nicking points off each other. That way they can trot along to the league and 'concentrate on Europe'. I think it's more to do with Celtic believing that picking up Scottish players is the cheap option. For every Armstrong, they're willing to have a GMS and Cifti because it's a low risk strategy when they know they will be picking up European cash every season. 7 hours ago, harry94 said: If Celtic are wanting him, I really don't see how it would be in their interest to take him immediately. He could do very well with the style of their play but he's needing to get his first proper season under his belt and stalling that is going to be to his detriment. Because Rodgers probably believes that he's the best person to coach him and take him to the next level. Whether that's correct or not, I've little doubt he and Celtic believe it to be. It's clear he doesn't rate anything else happening up here.

Popular Post Stampguy Posted 31 January 2018 Popular Post Report Share Posted 31 January 2018 Hendry's value isn't going to drop between now and the summertime. We should NOT be rushed into selling him early just because Septic feel they have a divine right to take whomever they want whenever they want. With any luck and a great second half of the season for Hendry and the team his value will only go up, and we can deal with this situation in the summer. Personally I think we'll be able to get English teams bidding in the summer against Septic, and we can make a sensible decision without being rushed into anything in the middle of the season that could be incredibly damaging to our club and could in fact cost us more in the long run than these Old Firm gangsters give us tomorrow. Additionally there is virtually no chance that we'll have any time to replace Hendry with any type of quality as the window is about to close. Defensively in the last two games according to Skysports we've given up 1 shot on goal total. I think it may be more like 2 or 3 shots on goal total in the last two games. But my point is that if Hendry had played in the first ICT game we wouldn't have had to go to a replay. Young Jack is just too important to go at this time. When he goes in the summer I personally hope it is somewhere south of the border as I won't be able to stomach watching him play against us. I realise that this isn't anything new for us as my Gramps (in the High Stand now) used to talk about the OF buying players off other Scottish teams sometimes just to deliberately weaken the other teams in the league, and with no real intention of playing the player. Then said player would spend a year watching from the bench or stand only to be sold on to an English team for 10x what they paid the Scottish club for the player. They would literally just buy players sometimes because they were a handful to play against, and of course nothing has changed today - see Jonny Hayes of Aberdeen going Septic to watch them play from the stand or bench. I think when he got hurt against us that was his 6th league appearance. It's all the more galling when you hear that roaster Rodgers talking about how they can't compete in Europe because other teams have bigger budgets, and the Scottish league doesn't offer enough competition to keep them sharp enough. The cognitive dissonance, hypocrisy, and arrogance is astounding. I hope we tell them to get lost! p.s. Sorry for the novel, but this gets my blood pumping. 8

GSD Posted 31 January 2018 Report Share Posted 31 January 2018 If we lose hendry and Allan today we may go into a dabbie freefall, other players will be looking around thinking that's just sh*t,our spine has been ripped out just as we were getting somewhere. C'mon Mr Nelms and Mr Keys lets stand up to the monopoly Ugly sister and tell them to ram it,like the sheep have done, and slap an 8 figure sum on his head. Then get him signed for another few years to build a proper football team around,on a tasty contract.
Rosco Posted 31 January 2018 Report Share Posted 31 January 2018 I will be extremely angry and disappointed if reports are correct, with the BBC reporting Celtic are close to signing Hendry and Bain and Allan going to Hibs. Two of our best players just gone on the last day of the window. That will put us in free fall especially with a number of winnable games coming up before a hard run before the split.

Stop being a drama queen. Allan's not our player so we have no control over that and as for Bain well who cares?

You seem to be happy with letting two of your best players leave the club on the last day of the window.
