Tonight I was watching Winterwatch on BBC2 because each night part of the programme reports about wildlife on Islay.

Chris Packham was making a big “song and dance” about a stoat caught on camera in Gloucestershire in its white winter coat despite there being no snow in that part of the country.

Several weeks ago I saw a stoat in its white winter coat in my back garden and there is no snow on Islay.

Unfortunately I cannot contact the Winterwatch presenters as I do not do Facebook or Twitter.

F’kin hell Islay...

I am surprised at your post.

I you might have posted that I was very fortunate to see wildlife in my back garden.

You see it all  here on Islay.

If you are keen on wildlife or a “birdie person” then this is the place to stay.

About 5 years ago I was walking down the A847 to Bruichladdich with my two Westie dogs for my Dundee Courier when a sea otter came out of the grass at the right hand side of the road, slithered across the main road and into the bushes at the other side.

If the Winterwatch presenters had been there at the time they would have been turning cartwheels with delight and joy.

Sounds like my cup of tea.

You would need to rent a self catering property for a minimum of six weeks during the winter months to see if you could handle living permanently on Islay.

I only want to see the wildlife I never said anything about actually living there.

There are plenty of self catering properties available to rent during the winter months and despite what they said on Winterwatch last night about the geese numbers failing plenty of them to see.

Lot of wildlife by me, I live on the edge of a town and take my dogs out to nearby fields. Everything from mice and voles up to deer and buzzards, great to see.

Any big cats mate?, loads of reported sightings in Fife.
