Why am I asking this Question?

Weel in part, it is because eh'm jist aboot seek tae daith aboot, seeing them &  hearing aboot them, on every kind  o' Scottish Fitba Media Programmes ...

Such as TV, Radio, Newspapers, ... (It's only a matter o time before any updated news on them will interrupt awe media televised & radio  programmes, Weather Forecasts, Baking Programes, Religious Services ,Songs o' Praise etc) Natter, natter natter, Celtic .... Natter, natter, natter, Rangers ... Natter, natter, natter, Celtic & Rangers

The other thing that brought this grumpy feeling on, was doing a general, google research, on Attendances at Scottidh Football attendances. Eh wisnaee innundated wi results , but the concensus was, "Scottish Fitba has never been heathier"  Then it goes on (& on & on & on & on &....) aboot the Wonderful Rangers & Celtic.

Indirectly & directly we benefit (financially) I suppose from their successes & being in the Premiership, but back to the question...Could we survive withoot them?

There would have to be changes made in the structure/size etc. of the Premiership. Initially cutting oor cloth.

But would it eventually level itself up? Develop a more competitive league. In long term increase attendances.

(HARDLY LIKELY EVER TO HAPPEN ... BUT MAYBE WORTH  A DISCUSSION?

Think you have got things the wrong way round. After tonight's performance perhaps the question should be can Celtic survive without the SPFL.  Looks like we give them easy games, keep them going to the Champions League and then the Europa league. ;)

Yes, we’ll be just fine without one or both of them and it will happen in the next 6 or 7 years.

UEFA will create a couple of Frankenstein leagues for the mega clubs and the skint in comparison but still “big” clubs.

Celtic will be invited. Not so sure about the Rangers tribute act though.

Aye fair point BC ...

As it seems to be laid in stone, even before the New Season begins, that Celtic will once again finish Champions, reluctantly it has to be accepted they are top o'the pile here !!  I am no too saddened to see that once they leave these shores, they get their come-uppance :)

..... And we, that's are left, will still survive Boba?

Agree with this Boba. As much as we get a bit fed up with a poor result, it's the same for Celtic. They struggle against teams that have the same resources as themselves and are in the same time warp where they think they are the Lisbon Lions so why can't they live up to their heritage.

Yes, in my opinion. We Could do better because there will be one less team at the top and iTools mean a change in the voting rules for management of the SPFL.

Would we survive, yes, would we have the same profile without the OF, no. Would that be a good or bad thing is open to debate, owners might not like it but I suspect fans would. :D I know this fan would anyway.

The flipside is that both teams are desperate to leave anyway, I'm not sure they'd care how we fared.

I would love Celtic and Rangers to leave to join a super league just to become this new leagues whipping  boys... would be funny has hell to watch week in and week out.

I wonder how many of their so called supporters would put up without winning anything year in and year out!

There was a part of me for a while that thought, although I truly believed the "Old Firm" moving doon to England (or anybody that wid have them) would bring nothing but positives, there was the possibility that at least ininially, we might feel the pinch, but in the longer term that would balance out and possibly &  more importantly, we would be in a a league that was more evenly contested. But my real concern was the smugnes of the Old Firm, as they went about their business somewhere else, cockily thinking the only way any the others could have contested the league ....wasby them leaving.

(In other words, it was now second rate, a whoever won it were not really worthy to be calledChampions)

But that does not bother me at all now ... Just as Celtic go about as if they are "Cock of the North" the Club/Teams from Europa & Champions Leagues come along with a harsh bit of reality. And like tonight, bring them back to earth :)

I have been dreaming of a Scottish Football without them..

Imagine a world where you aren't hanging on the edge of your seat at the end of a transfer window praying your best players aren't "stolen" from you

A world where bigotry and bile isn't shouted from the terraces each week, and very few feeling the consequences of doing so.

A world where every game isn't turned into an OF debate at every turn

A world where we have a competitive league in full

A world where we can have reform without pandering to 2/42 clubs.

A world where we can plod along with our wee, yet fantastically supported, league and try to develop young boys and girls into a respectable standard of footballer for our national teams.

Having a small country, and subsequently, a small league is not a bad thing. We have been severely restricted in how we develop it and without them, we have a wonderful chance at doing so imo
