Media and Clubs Accounts

After yesterday's disgraceful headline in the daily record is it not about time that the spfl brought a rule in that all clubs accounts should be in their hands by a certain date and then and only then will the papers be allowed to print them ...put every club account in the papers on the same day and let everyone know how their club is fareing...I'm willing to bet out accounts are no better or worse than every other bloody club in the top league...this singling out individual clubs with scaremongering stories is a disgrace especially from a paper who claims to be Scotland's champion.

Good plan Charlie, wouldn’t work tho, all accounts are in the public domain.

In my opinion the club made a mistake putting the link to the club accounts on the club website as this encourages lazy “journalists” to easily find the information.

The directors should have waited until the accounts were published on the Companies House website before posting the information on the club website.

I can guarantee you that the Sports department of newspapers have alerts set up so when a company files anything or makes changes on companies house they get an email.

Hi DD,

Whilst It is correct that the Sports department of newspapers will have an alert set up when Dundee Football Club Limited submits new Information with Companies House on this occasion the Annual Accounts for the year ending 31st May 2017 are not yet listed. I enclose the latest information for your reference. https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/SC004585/filing-history

Therefore I stand by my original post that the club should not have posted their latest set of Annual Accounts until they were posted on the Companies House website.

I am registered with a website called Companies in the UK.co.uk and I receive email alerts about a couple of “Mickey Mouse” companies on Islay which are listed as a Company Limited by Guarantee.

Well it back fired on them big time. They should have waited until it was published on the Companies House website.

Surprisingly there has been no mention of who is replacing Ian Crichton as Financial Director on the board of Dundee Football Club Limited.

It was previously announced that he was stepping down on 28th February 2018 which was last Wednesday.

Im sure they need to make it public to all shareholders.

If they hadn't Islay, they would have been accused of trying to pull the wool over fans' eyes, wouldn't they?

Damned if they do...

Hi DD.

Of course they need to announce the results to the public but the obvious way to do it is to have a Press conference where the Annual results are announced and explained in detaiil to the journalists present.

Not every journalist present will be able to understand published annual accounts and it is unlikely that the Daily Record would have sent their business reporter if the Record actually has one.

Therefore in my opinion it is a ”receipe for disaster” publishing the Dundee Football Club Limited annual accounts for the year ending 31st May 2017 on the club website for every “Tom, Dick and Harry” including a clueless journalist from the Daily Record to pass their comments .

As far as I am aware the latest set of annual accounts are no longer posted to individual Dundee Football Club Limited shareholders but they may receive an electronic copy.

I know for a fact that Dundee Football Club Limited no longer hold an Annual General Meeting each year.

There may be some posters on this forum who are Dundee Football Club Limited shareholders and they should be able confirm whether they are sent a paper copy of the annual accounts, receive them by email or like everyone else view them on the Companies House website.

Shareholders in Public Limited companies still have the option of receiving the Annual Accounts in paper form through the post or electronically. They also have the option of receiving the full Annual Accounts or an Annual Review.

I personally would always have the full Annual Accounts sent by post as they show you all the information including management’s bonuses and share options and what targets they have to achieve to reach these targets.

For the record I have been interested in “stocks and shares” from an early age.
