Payback Time for the Daily Record

This Saturday would be an ideal time for Dundee supporters to extract their revenge on the management of the Daily Record for their journalist’s shocking reporting of the Dundee Football Club Limited Annual Accounts for the year ending 31st May 2017.

My preferred option would be for unsold copies of the Daily Record to be collected from newsagents throughout the city and “ceremoniously” burned in a controlled manner at the rear of the Bobby Cox stand at 2.30pm prior to the game against St Johnstone with the press present and someone filming it for downloading on You Tube.

Alternatively If Health and Safety are against a bonfire then copies of the Daily Record could ripped up at the side of the pitch in front of the Main Stand to show the owners and management of the Daily Record what  Dundee supporters think of their newspaper (rag).

Newspaper shops now return the bar code of newspapers to their wholesaler to obtain a refund leaving the rest of the paper including importantly the masthead intact so there would be no doubt which newspaper was being burnt / ripped to shreds.

i like it.

My preference is for John Nelms to tear up a copy of the Daily Record at half time this Saturday at the Main Stand side of the pitch in full view of the Press Box.

Perhaps then the media will realise that the club and supporters are furious with the lies published by the Daily Record.

THE city of Dundee was alight tonight as riots spread from Dens Park down to the Riverside.

It all began with a bonfire protest against the Daily Record outside the Bobby Cox stand in response to a headline which suggested Dundee FC are in serious financial trouble.

As the fire raged out of control, the club were forced to postpone the game with St Johnstone.

With disorder growing in the streets around the stadium, riot police were deployed but struggled to contain the situation.

The Lord Provost placed the city on lockdown as looting and arson attacks spread to the city centre and the schemes.

Police are keen to speak to an internet anarchist, known only as Islay, who is believed to have been behind the protest.

Clearly islay has watched "The Wicker Man" once too often ;)

Old Island Traditions die hard HK.

The coop has once again run oot o' their recent Double-Delivery o' firelighters,

as Islay Residents (old & young) sweep doon fae hills, buying in bulk. Spokes-

Person made the comment "We're relating this sudden demand to the present

adverse weather conditions" It is believed that the person chosen for this year's

Harvest Festival Burning has already been selected (unanimous vote it seems) ;)

Normally the Human Sacrifice, is chosen from the many Summer Visitors to Islay.

But on this occasion, the candidate was chosen in advance. In part, because of the

poor intermittent ferry service, the increasing midgie problem, & the deteriorating

conditions of the islands road network system, resulting in a big fall in our visitors.

We remind all wishing to attend, the demand for tickets this year have been high :excited:

Date for Festival Burning has not been set. But the situation is being monitored:chaplin:

That is why I previously posted my preferred option to tear up a Daily Record newspaper (s) at half time on the pitch for all including the press box to see.

Chomp.

It is good to see that read my posts regarding living in Argyll and Bute.

My suggestion regarding tearing up a Daily Record (s) at half time is nothing knew.

In January 2006 my wife and I attended a Burns Supper on a Saturday evening in Port Ellen the same day as the fortnightly edition of the Islay community newspaper the Ileach was published. In that edition was an article written by a person hiding behind the name “White Settler” who was in fact the editor Carl Reavey who you may remember “shafted me” in an edition of the Ileach in October 2009.

“White Settler” wrote in his article that the Calmac pier at Port Ellen should be permanently closed with ALL Calmac ferries sailing to Port Askaig. Port Ellen should then become a village looking after the needs of the “yachties” who would use Port Ellen harbour as a base with bistro bars and restaurants in the village. We already had the Ardview Inn in Port Ellen which was full of character and had no need for bistro bars.

The main speaker at the Burns Supper was Norman “Stormin Norman” Martin who was the skipper of one of the Calmac ferries which sailed from Kennacraig to Islay. Part of his speech made reference to the White Settler’s article in the Ileach. He stated that Port Ellen was one of the most sheltered ports used by the Calmac fleet in the West of Scotland. “Stormin Norman” then told the audience that he had no time for the rubbish written by “White Settler” in the Ileach and he  then ripped the Ileach in half to loud cheers from everyone at the Burns Supper.
