Really? It worry's me that Mcleish has called bain up,after a handful of games for celtic.

Has he really played that well for celtic? don't think so,flapped a couple of times and not looked too clever,

behind the best defence in scotland.Playing for us,he has been inconsistent to say the least.

Scotland must be struggling for keepers to include bain ,considering what he's done this season.

Or ,old firm bias rears it's ugly head again.do you think celtic would have paid money for him if he was on contract?

says it all, imo.I was thinking Mcleish was picking up and coming Scotland stars ,but this has brought some doubt,to me,

bain ,imo, wouldn't have been quoted ,if he was playing for us,even if he ever managed to save a penalty.(embarrassing.)

In my opinion there is no way that Celtic would have paid money for Bain if he was still on contract.

They would have signed Cammy Bell or another goalkeeper who is out of contract.

We argued on here about the guy for the past two years. I couldn't care less what happens with his career. Just relieved that he's finally not our player any more.

McLeish certainly does seem to be following the tradition of calling up players just because they're associated with the Old Firm.

Let's be honest, if you were Mcleish and were faced with the choice, wouldn't you take the easy way out and draft in Bain?  This will play to the crowd and it's a friendly and 3rd choice (presumeably) goalkeeper we are talking about.  Almost a no-brainer. A bit like the Joe Hart omission for england WC squad - the 3rd choice keeper is unlikely to play so including him or not is really a non-issue IMO.

HK, McLeish has called up the boy Morgan before he's had a chance to challenge for a Celtic jersey.

Bain being called up isn't the craziest move. As we all know the guy has a touch of class about him. It's been a while since he looked one of the best keepers in the country though.

I agree with you Cobra  - I'm just making an observation that you can understand where McLeish is coming from.

We were all jizzing ourselves when he got a couple of call ups when he played for us. He's a good keeper (not a great one though) playing at the biggest club in the country in front of 60 thousand or whatever. While it boils my p*ss that anyone who plays for one of the a**e cheeks will get the nod over good players from other Scottish clubs its not a surprise. Its one of the reasons I'm not that bothered about the national team, still watch but haven't been to see them in over 5 years.

Scott Bain certainly had a purple patch when he looked very good but I could never bring myself to think of him as true International quality.  Not sour grapes or anything like that but he certainly has flaws in his game and he may stand a better chance of becoming a better keeper being at Celtic and getting the odd game here and there.  Should Craig Gordon stop playing for any reason I doubt that Bain will automatically become Celtics No 1.  Destined for lengthy periods on the bench more than likely.  A good to very good keeper but not good enough to be a regular for a team with ambitions on the Champions League.

It may be of course that in his own mind, he rates himself at ... Slightly Above World Class Level :happyyes:

Soor Grapes? ... Aye Probably:chaplin:
