Looks like he's agreed a deal to become Sunderland manager. Apparently on 5x his current salary.

Who next for the Buddies? Decent shout for me would be Jim Goodwin, replaced Ross at Alloa and just took them into the Championship. Also knows the club well and wouldn't imagine he'd cost too much.

Makes sense that he turned down the Dundee job if he was keen on a big job down south.

Sunderland get crowds on a par with Chelsea and PSG so you can see the appeal.

Be interesting to see if their home form improves. They've won 3 out of 35 at the Stadium of Light. Makes Dens look like a fortress.

Even if money is no' a driving force in your life, or the main motivation for doing a particular job, when someone comes along and offers you 5 times what you are on now, in a position where although there may be a lot more pressure, also offers more opportunities, it must be near impossible to turn it down ... I have no' read the story, but eh think Jack Ross will be awa like a shot.

St Mirren chairman  says he knows  nothing about it and Ross is away on holiday  anyway .

Maybe Jack has learned from last summers fiasco?.

If he has agreed the terms it sounds like money in his bank is the over-riding factor. Based on the track record of recent managers at Sunderland it sounds like a poisoned chalice. It will probably boost his bank account but what will it do to his football reputation? If the new Sunderland owner has not asked St Mirren permission to speak to him it could be another owner who doesn't play by the rules.

Apparently, he has a 50k buy out clause in his contract and Sunderland say that they will pay it. If that if the case, St Mirren will not be able to stop it unless they can match the wages and contract from Sunderland.

Looks a good move for him. It's probably more attractive a job than it would of been 6 months ago, especially now a new owner has come in. Sunderland will bring in a lot more money than their League 1 rivals so will definitely be favourites to come up. League 1 is a hell of a lot easier to get promotion from than the Championship.

I've got a feeling St Mirren might just promote James Fowler to number 1. I've always thought he spoke quite well (similar to Jack Ross) and I tipped him to make a success of management. Obviously his reputation has been knocked since being sacked by QOTS but I expect him to make a comeback at some stage.

Wonder if David Hopkin could be a target, he looks like he will do a good job of keeping a club up.

Was thinking that. I'm not too sure if his playing style will appeal to the St Mirren BOD though.

Or the fans but from what we've seen he's more likely to shitfest his way to staying up. Might be what's needed for a year or two to become 'established'. I admit its a long shot but for a club in a new league without a manager it might be an option.

Substance over style might be what gets them a foothold in the big league.
