I think this is pretty pointless data.

Hamilton probably topped this particular table because they didn't take many speculative shots from distance while Celtic and Dundee took lots.

Do you want to only ever take a shot when it's an open goal or are you willing to take 10 cracks from distance in the hope you'll get the odd deflection or screamer that flies into the top corner?

Given that Accies have lost 13 out of 17 league games in 2018, they are not one team I'd be looking at for inspiration.

A better statistic might be expected goals to goals ratio, plus an expected goals per game. I’d imagine we’d be low on the first but high on the second. Having shots to goals doesn’t really add up when a sitter from three yards is given the same weighting as a 40 yard strike that is never likely to trouble the keeper!
